Abstract It is known that the heterogeneity caused by thermally induced micro-cracks and thermal stress can affect the mechanical behavior of granite. The laboratory-scale tests have the intrinsic limitation of non-repeatability and lack of effective methods to characterize the interaction effect between thermal micro-cracks and thermal stresses. In this study, we demonstrate how advancements in particle bonded model and moment tensor can help better understand the roles of high temperature in weakening granite and thermally induced cracking process in Brazilian test. Our results show that the types of micro-cracks (intergranular, intragranular, and transcrystalline ones) are related to their thermal expansion coefficients of mineralogical compositions. The intergranular tensile micro-cracks are predominant during the heating and heating-cooling processes. An obvious weakening of granite and non-central initiation is associated with the heterogeneity caused by the thermal damage and thermal stress. We also quantitatively evaluate the thermal damage based on orientation distribution, b-value, and nature of the sources, which gives a new microcracking perspective on tensile characteristics subjected to high temperature.

Abstract The colorful electrochromic polymers have been prepared, however, the neutral black or gray polymers are reported rarely due to the optical absorption region couldn’t cover the whole visible light region. Here, three donor-acceptor (D-A) type conjugated polymers PCDT-X (X = 1, 2, 3) based on two fused ring (FR) conjugated units cyclopentadithiophene (CPDT) and trithiophene-phenylhexyl (3TT) as donors and diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) as acceptor were synthesized. The difference of the three D-A type polymers focuses on donor/acceptor (D/A) molar ratio. Due to the introduction of FR units as donors, the optical absorption of PCDT-X (X = 1, 2, 3) cover the whole visible region, making them display gray color. Electrochromic studies demonstrate that the optical contrasts of PCDT-X (X = 1, 2, 3) in high- and low-energy absorption bands could be optimized specifically through adjusting D/A molar ratio. And, the prepared PCDT-X (X = 1, 2, 3) display good electrochromic properties, such as high optical contrast (57.25%), fast response time (0.59 s), and superior coloration efficiency (1342 cm² C⁻¹). These results demonstrate that the introduction of FR units as donors is an efficient strategy to construct gray or black D-A type electrochromic polymers.

Abstract Based on the fact that D-A-D CPs (donor-acceptor-donor conjugated polymers) can significantly improve the lithium-ion storage performance of anode materials, three D-A-D CPs (PMTP, PMOTP, and PDOTP) were prepared by simple chemical polymerization reactions with [1,2,5] thiadiazole [3,4-c] pyridine as the acceptor unit and methylthiophene (MTh), methoxythiophene (MOTh), and 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) as the donor unit, respectively. Each polymer was compounded in situ with the carbon nanotubes (CNTs) to prepare the PMTP@CNT, PMOTP@CNT, and PDOTP@CNT, respectively, all of which were used as the anode materials for the lithium-ion batteries. The capacities of PMTP, PMOTP, and PDOTP were 762.6, 933.4, and 1351.4 mAh g⁻¹ after 160 cycles at 0.1 A g⁻¹, respectively. The order of magnitude of the specific capacity of the three polymers was PDOTP > PMOTP > PMTP, which was due to the fact that with the increasing electron-donating ability of the donor unit of the polymer, the LUMO energy level gradually decreased, the HOMO energy level gradually increased, and the Eg gradually decreased, resulting in an increase in its redox ability and conductivity. The Galvanostatic intermittent titration technique (GITT) showed that the lithium-ion diffusion coefficients of the three electrodes were comparable. XPS demonstrated that lithium ions were mainly stored on the CC and CN of the three polymers (PMTP, PMOTP, and PDOTP). The b-values showed that their electrochemical reactions were controlled by both the internal solid-phase diffusion process and capacitive process. The CV, GCD, cycling stability performance, and rate capability tests showed that all the three electrodes had good electrochemical performance, among which PDOTP@CNT had the best performance and was well suited as the anode material for the Li-ion battery. D-A-D CP provides a new pathway for the development of electrode materials for high-capacity lithium-ion batteries.

Abstract The conventional Li-ion battery composite electrode material composed of CuO and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) suffer from poor contact between CuO and CNTs. This results in high electrode resistance and poor electrochemical performance. To solve this problem, CuO@humic acid (HA) @CNT anode material with cross-linked network structure was generated by linking CuO and CNT with HA as a coupling agent. For comparison, CuO@HA or CuO@CNT were also prepared in the absence of CNT or HA, respectively. The results showed that CuO@HA@CNT had lower charge transfer resistance, higher conductivity, lithium-ion diffusion coefficient, specific capacity, and rate capability than CuO@HA and CuO@CNT. The specific capacity of the CuO@HA@CNT electrode was significantly better than that of the composite electrode materials of CuO and CNT, which have been prepared by scientists using various methods. Due to the introduction of HA, not only was the uniformly distributed flower-like CuO obtained, but also the specific capacity and rate capability of the electrode material were substantially improved. This study thus provides a good strategy to optimize the capability of transition metal oxide lithium-ion anode materials.

Abstract In this study, the composite of silica-based sandwich-layered zirconium-titanium phosphate was prepared by a layer-by-layer grafting method and its adsorption properties in a diluted solution of Ni ions were specifically researched by the bath experiment method. The field-emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) results presented the smooth surface morphology of the pristine adsorbent and a rough surface morphology of the adsorbed adsorbent and the energy dispersive analysis (EDS) results ensured the presence of the original metal element (Si, O, Ti, P, Zr) and the captured nickel element on the adsorbent. The Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) revealed the new band formation of -Si-Ti-O-, -Si-Ti-O-P-, and -Si-Ti-O-P-Zr-O-, which ensured the successful modification of the silica substrate by zirconium-titanium phosphate. The specific surface area and pore size distribution analysis indicated that the pore structure was changed from type-Ⅳ to H2-type and the specific surface area (BET) of the modified composite was 337.881 m

Abstract High performance of SnO₂@C@HA ternary anode material was fabricated by microwave-assisted hydrothermal and subsequent calcination process in the presence of humic acid (HA) and super P. In the calcination process, tin hydroxide is converted to tin oxide and then be crystallized. For comparison purpose, two other composites including SnO₂@C and SnO₂@HA are also prepared, and the structures, morphology and electrochemical performances of these composites are investigated in detail. The results showed that the addition of HA improved the dispersibility of the SnO₂ nanoparticles and the specific surface area of the composite. Electrochemical measurement showed that the SnO₂@C@HA anode exhibited high retention capacity during charge-discharge cycling as compared to that of the binary systems, which was attributed to the porous hierarchical structure and high conductivity of SnO₂@C@HA. The reversible specific capacity of SnO₂@C@HA anode can be maintained at 612.0mAh g⁻¹ after 500 cycles at a current density of 500mAg⁻¹.

Abstract Purpose: Ovarian cancer (OC) is one of the most common malignancies in females with high mortality rate. MicroRNAs (miRNAs or miRs) serve as oncogenes or tumor suppressors in various human cancer types, including OC. The aim of this study was to explore the roles of miR-492 in OC.
Methods: Two human ovarian cancer cell lines, SKOV3 and CAOV3, and a normal ovarian cell line IOSE80 were used in this study. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) was conducted to measure the mRNA levels of miRNAs and genes. The protein levels of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) associated genes were calculated using Western blot. Transwell assay was utilized to evaluate the migratory and invasive capacities.
Results: MiR-492 was overexpressed while SRY-box 7 (SOX7) was lowly expressed in OC tissues and cells. Upregulation of miR-492 or downregulation of SOX7 predicted poor prognosis of OC patients. MiR-492 regulated the expression of SOX7 via directly binding to the 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) of SOX7 mRNA in SKOV3 OC cells. The expression of miR-492 had a negative relationship with SOX7 in OC tissues. MiR-492 promoted the migration, invasion and EMT through SOX7 in SKOV3 cells. SOX7 could partially reverse the role of miR-492 on the migratory, invasive and EMT abilities in SKOV3 cells.
Conclusions: MiR-492 promoted the migratory, invasive and EMT abilities through SOX7 in OC. This suggested that miR-492/SOX7 axis may be an effective candidate therapeutic target for the treatment of OC.
