Abstract Background: This study aimed to compare the clinical efficacy of microplate trans-carpometacarpal joint fixation and non-trans-carpometacarpal joint fixation in treating fractures and dislocation or subluxation of the base of the fourth and fifth metacarpal bones.
Method: From 2015 to 2021, 100 cases of metacarpal basal fractures with dislocation or subluxation were randomly divided into the trans-carpometacarpal joint fixation group (group A) and non-trans-carpometacarpal joint fixation group (group B). Group A (n = 50) comprised 44 males and 6 females, with an average age of 28.8 ± 6.1 y and an Orthopedic Trauma Association (OTA) fracture classification of type B1 (n = 29) or C1 (n = 21). Group B (n = 50) comprised 45 males and 5 females, with an average age of 28.9 ± 5.7 y and an OTA fracture classification of type B1 (n = 28) or C1 (n = 22). All patients were complicated with dislocation or subluxation. The surgery time, fracture healing time, postoperative handgrip strength, and total active motion (TAM) scores of the ring and little fingers were recorded and compared between the two groups. The clinical efficacy of patients was evaluated using scoring methods such as DASH (disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand), visual analogue scale (VAS), and Mayo at 3, 6, and 12 months after surgery.
Results: There was no significant difference in the general indexes, surgery time, or fracture healing time between the two groups (P > 0.05). There were no significant differences in handgrip strength and TAM scores of the ring and little fingers between the two groups at 3 and 12 months postoperatively (P > 0.05), but there were significant differences in these indexes 6 months postoperatively (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in the DASH, VAS, and Mayo scores at 3 and 12 months postoperatively (P > 0.05), but there were significant differences between the two groups in the DASH and Mayo scores (P < 0.05) but not the VAS score (P > 0.05) 6 months postoperatively.
Conclusion: In the treatment of fourth and fifth metacarpal basal fractures with dislocation or subluxation, both microplate transarticular fixation and non-transarticular fixation could achieve fracture fixation and healing, and each method had advantages and disadvantages. The clinically appropriate fixation method should be selected according to the experience of the surgeon and the degree and type of fracture and dislocation.

Abstract Objective: This study aimed to investigate the clinical effect of the encircling fixation of a transplanted palmaris longus tendon in the treatment of Doyle types II and III mallet finger.
Methods: There were 115 cases of mallet finger deformity with Zone 1 extensor tendon rupture and defect. After debridement by first intention, the tendon bundles of the palmaris longus tendon were used to pass through the subcutaneous tunnel on the volar side of the base of distal phalanx, forming an encircling binding, crossing on the dorsal side. The tail of the tendon was then overlapped with the proximal extensor tendon and sutured. The finger extension position was fixed with plaster for four weeks. If the skin defect could not be closed directly, depending on the size of the skin defect, either a local turndown flap or a pedicled flap was used to cover the wound.
Results: The patients were followed up for 3-12 months after the operation. According to Total Active Motion criteria, the clinical effect was excellent in 89 cases, good in 16 cases, acceptable in 7 cases, poor in 2 cases and inferior in 1 case.
Conclusion: The treatment of Doyle types II and type III mallet finger with the encircling fixation of a transplanted palmaris longus tendon is simple and effective, with a low recurrence rate, few complications, and satisfactory results.

Abstract It has been demonstrated that perception of objects automatically evokes potential actions to interact with those objects; this is termed as affordance. The present study investigated how the corresponding affordance effect of graspable objects was modulated by the cue about risk levels of object. Participants were presented with pictures of dangerous graspable objects or neutral graspable objects. The participants were required to perform an upright/upside down discrimination task by pressing different keys. Results showed that both the affordance effects of dangerous object and neutral object in children were enhanced when a cue preceded the object, t(35) = 3.83, p < .01, Cohen's d = 1.29. These results indicate that the prompt of risk level can improve individual's appropriate manipulation to the object.

Abstract The Internet of Things (IoT) has evolved significantly with advances in gathering data that can be extracted to provide knowledge and facilitate decision-making processes. Currently, IoT data analytics encountered challenges such as growing data volumes collected by IoT devices and fast response requirements for time-sensitive applications in which traditional Cloud-based solution is unable to meet due to bandwidth and high latency limitations. In this paper, we develop a distributed analytics framework for fog-enabled IoT systems aiming to avoid raw data movement and reduce latency. The distributed framework leverages the computational capacities of all the participants such as edge devices and fog nodes and allows them to obtain the global optimal solution locally. To further enhance the privacy of data holders in the system, a privacy-preserving protocol is proposed using cryptographic schemes. Security analysis was conducted and it verified that exact private information about any edge device's raw data would not be inferred by an honest-but-curious neighbor in the proposed secure protocol. In addition, the accuracy of solution is unaffected in the secure protocol comparing to the proposed distributed algorithm without encryption. We further conducted experiments on three case studies: seismic imaging, diabetes progression prediction, and Enron email classification. On seismic imaging problem, the proposed algorithm can be up to one order of magnitude faster than the benchmarks in reaching the optimal solution. The evaluation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology and demonstrate its potential to be a promising solution for data analytics in fog-enabled IoT systems.

Abstract Urban green infrastructure (UGI) attracts much interest because they could provide urban ecosystem services (UES). Among all various methodologies, the UGI structure-based modelling is favored for advantages in physiological mechanisms. This work concerns on environmental services, including “air purification,” “microclimate regulation,” “noise reduction,” “carbon sequestration and storage,” and “rainwater retention.” A new assessment methodology based on UGI structure indicator was constructed with nine UGI model structures and quantitative values. With implemented in two urban parks in Shanghai, this methodology is speculated to be suitable for patch-level cases, and can make certain efforts to regions without sufficient data.

Abstract Graphs are important data representations for describing objects and their relationships, which appear in a wide diversity of real-world scenarios. As one of a critical problem in this area, graph generation considers learning the distributions of given graphs and generating more novel graphs. Owing to their wide range of applications, generative models for graphs, which have a rich history, however, are traditionally hand-crafted and only capable of modeling a few statistical properties of graphs. Recent advances in deep generative models for graph generation is an important step towards improving the fidelity of generated graphs and paves the way for new kinds of applications. This article provides an extensive overview of the literature in the field of deep generative models for graph generation. First, the formal definition of deep generative models for the graph generation and the preliminary knowledge are provided. Second, taxonomies of deep generative models for both unconditional and conditional graph generation are proposed respectively; the existing works of each are compared and analyzed. After that, an overview of the evaluation metrics in this specific domain is provided. Finally, the applications that deep graph generation enables are summarized and five promising future research directions are highlighted.

Abstract With the rapid development of the economy, we are facing more and more problems, and the construction of ecological civilization has become the focus of our national concern. With the rapid development of network technology, the immediacy of the new media and the huge audience have brought new development trends to the dissemination of environmental information. The number of new environmental media is increasing, but there are still some problems, such as formality, rigid content and lack of innovation, which make it difficult to achieve better communication effects. However, the research on new environmental media is still in its infancy, and there is not yet a set of targeted and specialized new media evaluation systems. Based on the social function of new environmental news media and the social responsibility of media as the entry point, the article establishes a set of index systems to measure the efficiency of environmental news dissemination and proposes corresponding improvement measures accordingly. The results of the study show that the best use of environmental education publicity is at 81.3%. In terms of cognitive efficiency and attitudinal efficacy, the scores of environmental education weibo public numbers were not high, at 60.7% and 71.5%, respectively. From the perspective of ideological and political education, the environmental protection class of WeChat plays a good role in attracting the attention of college students, and can provide ideological and political education to them and improve their ideological awareness. In terms of cognition, new media is responsible for conveying environmental knowledge and concepts to college students, so the development of new media centers on environmental information, and the content directly affects the cognitive level of college students, fully reflecting the importance of cognitive efficacy in new media of environmental education. On attitude efficacy, only one indicator is set for identity shaping, which has the highest score, but the lowest is 4.0, showing that the public number is still not obvious enough in terms of identifying with college student groups, influencing college students' emotions and attitudes. Based on this, this paper points out the problems of the current communication efficiency of environmental education new media through the analysis of the evaluation results and puts forward suggestions to improve its communication efficiency in this regard.
