Abstract Objective: To investigate the prognostic assessment of inflammatory factor serum C‑reactive protein CRP and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio NLR value in patients with non-small cell lung cancer NSCLC.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted for 475 patients with NSCLC who visited our hospital with complete follow-up data from January 2017 to 1 January 2019. The changes of serum CRP, NLR levels in patients with NSCLC of different stages, as well as the changes in the levels of the two indexes before and after chemotherapy in patients with advanced stage were compared using t tests with SPSS19.0 software. Serum CRP and NLR were divided into low and high groups with median intercept values and the relationship between inflammation score index and tumor progression-free survival time (PFS) was analyzed retrospectively. Clinical factors that may affect disease prognosis were included in the proportional hazards (COX) regression model for multifactorial prognostic analysis.
Results: Pretreatment serum levels of NLR and CRP were significantly higher in non-operated patients relative to preoperative levels in surgical patients. Advanced patients had higher levels of both indexes than locally advanced patients. After chemotherapy, the levels of the two indexes reaching remission were significantly lower than those before chemotherapy. The levels of the two indexes in patients with stable disease after chemotherapy were not statistically significant compared with those before chemotherapy, and the levels of the two indexes in the group with progressive disease after chemotherapy were significantly higher than those before chemotherapy. The results of PFS survival analyses showed that PFS was prolonged in the low score CRP and the low score NLR group, compared with the high score group. Multifactorial prognostic analysis showed that smoking, CRP and NLR were risk factors for PFS prognosis in patients with NSCLC.
Conclusion: Serum CRP and NLR are effective predictors of poor prognosis in patients with NSCLC.

Abstract Background: Gexia-Zhuyu Tang (GZT), a traditional Chinese medicine formula, is used to treat a variety of diseases. However, its roles in gastric cancer (GC) remain unclear.
Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the roles and underlying molecular mechanisms of modified GZT in GC.
Methods: The effects of modified GZT on GC were investigated by constructing mouse xenograft models with MFC cell line. The fecal samples from low-dose, high-dose, and without modified GZT treatment groups were collected for the 16S rRNA gene sequencing and fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT). Histopathological alterations of mice were evaluated using the hematoxylin-eosin (HE). Immunohistochemical (IHC) analysis with Ki67 and GSDMD was performed to measure tissue cell proliferation and pyroptosis, respectively. Proteins associated with pyroptosis, invasion, and metastasis were detected by Western blotting. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to assess inflammation-related factors levels.
Results: Modified GZT inhibited GC tumor growth and reduced metastasis and invasion-related proteins expression levels, including CD147, VEGF, and MMP-9. Furthermore, it notably promoted caspase-1-dependent pyroptosis, as evidenced by a dose-dependent increase in TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-18, and LDH levels, along with elevated protein expression of NLRP3, ASC, and caspase-1. Additionally, modified GZT increased species abundance and diversity of the intestinal flora. FMT assay identified that modified GZT inhibited GC tumor progression through regulation of intestinal flora.
Conclusions: Modified GZT treatment may promote pyroptosis by modulating gut microbiota in GC. This study identifies a new potential approach for the GC clinical treatment.

Abstract Objective To analyze the clinical features and resuscitation outcome of adult patients with cardiac arrest (CA) in intensive care unit, and discuss the related factors affecting the success rate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in adult patients with CA. Methods The clinical data of CA patients in the intensive care unit of the First Hospital of Jilin University from September 2019 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. According to the outcome indicators, the patients were divided into return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) group and non-ROSC group, survival-discharge group and death group. The relevant factors affecting resuscitation outcome were discussed. Results A total of 351 patients with CA were included in this study, including 206 males and 145 females; the median age was 63 years. There were 191 patients with cardiogenic CA and 267 patients with non-defibrillation rhythm (cardiac arrest and no electrical activity) at the onset of CA. After treatment with CPR, 152 patients had ROSC, of whom 42 survived and were discharged. Univariate Logistic regression analysis showed that coronary artery disease, non-defibrillation rhythm, no defibrillation rhythm during resuscitation, no electric defibrillation, and no emergency endotracheal intubation were the possible factors that reduced the incidence of ROSC. Young age, CPR duration ≤30 min, and small cumulative dose of epinephrine were the possible factors that increased the incidence of ROSC. Non-cardiogenic etiology, non-defibrillable rhythm, no electric defibrillation, and no defibrillable rhythm during resuscitation decreased the likelihood of survival and discharge, whereas CPR duration ≤30 min and a small cumulative dose of epinephrine increased the likelihood of survival and discharge. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that CPR duration > 30 min was an independent risk factor for ROSC, and young age, emergency tracheal intubation, and small cumulative epinephrine dose were independent protective factors for ROSC. CPR duration ...

Abstract Age-related hearing loss (ARHL) is a major public health burden worldwide that profoundly affects the daily life of elderly people. Silent information regulator 1 (SIRT1 or Sirtuin1), known as a regulator of the cell cycle, the balance of oxidation/antioxidant and mitochondrial function, has been proven to have anti-aging and life-extending effects, and its possible connection with ARHL has received increasing attention in recent years. This paper provides an overview of research on the connection between SIRT1 and ARHL. Topics cover both the functions of SIRT1 and its important role in ARHL. This review concludes with a look at possible research directions for ARHL in the future.

Abstract Abstract: Bone metastases from endometrial carcinoma are rare, especially when the bone is the sole metastatic site. A 55-year-old woman with a history of endometrial carcinoma was referred for FGD PET/CT scan due to pain in the left knee. The images showed that multiple lesions with intense activity were detected in the left tibia. Histopathological examination and immunohistochemistry of the left tibial lesion confirmed metastases from the endometrial adenocarcinoma.

Abstract Cellular plasticity serves as a crucial biological phenomenon in humans, integral to tissue repair and maintenance of dynamic environmental homeostasis post-injury. However, dysregulated activation of this beneficial mechanism can pave the way for tumorigenesis and cancer progression. In this review, we synthesize recent advancements concerning the properties and roles of gastric epithelial cells, with a special emphasis on cellular plasticity and fate specification during the progress of gastric tumorigenesis. Notably, the attribute of stemness is not exclusive to gastric stem cells but also extends to differentiated cells in gastric units. We delve into the extent of plasticity and changes in cellular fate that contribute to malignant transformation in both stem and mature cells within the stomach. Moreover, we explore matrix-epithelial interactions, immunological modulation, and epigenomic alterations throughout the course of gastric tumorigenesis. A comprehensive understanding of the underlying cellular mechanisms governing plasticity and fate decisions could catalyze the development of innovative approaches for cancer prevention and antineoplastic therapies.

Abstract Background: To evaluate the efficacy of comprehensive physical and mental nursing for patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI) undergoing intravenous thrombolytic therapy and its impact on patients' quality of life and psychological state.
Methods: A total of 200 patients with ACI, admitted to our hospital between December 2018 and December 2019, were included in the study. They were randomly assigned to either the control group or the experimental group using a random number table. The control group received routine care (basic care such as monitoring vital signs, assisting with daily activities, administering medications, and providing comfort measures), while the experimental group received comprehensive physical and mental nursing (physical care, phsycological surpport, education and conceling). Various parameters including quality of life index (QLI) scores, mental status scale in non-psychiatric settings (MSSNS) scores, self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) scores, self-rating depression scale (SDS) scores, National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores, changes in hemodynamic indicators, and incidence of adverse events during intravenous thrombolysis were compared between the two groups.
Results: The experimental group had higher QLI scores and lower MSSNS, SAS, SDS, and NIHSS scores compared to the control group (
Conclusion: Comprehensive physical and mental nursing for patients with ACI undergoing intravenous thrombolysis improves nursing efficacy, nursing satisfaction, quality of life, and patients' psychological state. These findings highlight the importance of implementing holistic nursing interventions to optimize patient outcomes in ACI management.
