Abstract Teachers' competence in information and communication technology (ICT) applications can lead to a deeper integration of technology into the curriculum and improve the quality of education. However, its application and distribution issues could result in resource inequality and social injustice. Based on the ICT competency framework for teachers, the study investigates the variables influencing teachers' ICT competency. A prediction model of teachers' ICT competency is built using empirical data from secondary school teachers in Hebei Province, China, both in urban and rural settings. The study results show that a new digital divide does exist between urban and rural teachers and that differences in digital environment and digital literacy reflecting the new digital divide have different degrees of impact on teachers' ICT competence. Age and subject also affect teachers' ICT competence. In the new era, we can start with knowledge acquisition, knowledge deepening and knowledge creation to improve teachers' ICT competence.

Abstract [Objective] Market-based allocation of land factors is an important element in improving China’s socialist market economy system, and has important practical implications for promoting the integrated development of urban and rural areas and building a dual-cycle development pattern. This study aimed to investigate the impact of land resource allocation on the integrated development of urban and rural areas at the theoretical and empirical levels. [Methods] Based on the panel data from 2006-2017 in the central cities of the Yangtze River Delta region, and using the bootstrap mediation effect model, an empirical analysis was conducted on the intrinsic logical relationship between government control, land marketization, and integrated urban-rural development. [Results] (1) Theoretically, a unified market-based urban-rural land allocation system can bring about an increase in social welfare compared with a divided state, while the quasi-public goods attribute of land and the limited rationality of the government dictate that the allocation of land resources under the orientation of integrated urban-rural development should be between a “responsive government” and an “effective market”. (2) The government’s control behavior, characterized by tax policy, has a significant positive impact on the level of integrated urban-rural development, but the impact of industrial policy is not significant, and both the marketization of urban land and the marketization of agricultural land significantly contributed to the improvement of the level of integrated urban-rural development during the study period. (3) The mediation effects of marketization of agricultural land and urban land were 19.29% and 12.26% respectively in the path of tax policy affecting the level of integrated urban-rural development; the mediation effect of land marketization between industrial policy and integrated urban-rural development was not significant. [Conclusion] Clearly defining the boundary between the government and the market, deepening the reform ...

Abstract Introduction: Neurosyphilis (NS) is known as a sexually transmitted disease that is very difficult to diagnose and its diagnosis is delayed. Some studies have suggested that the level of interleukin (IL)-27 decreases in syphilis patients and the level of IL-17 increases in these patients, and these immunological changes can be a therapeutic target for these patients. The present study aims to evaluate IL-27's role in the immune regulation of Treg and Th17 cells in NS patients.
Material and methods: 400 documented diagnosed syphilis patients were enrolled to the study and divided into two groups of neurosyphilis (NS) and non-neurosyphilis (S). Also 40 healthy volunteers were enrolled as a healthy control group (C). Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from peripheral blood and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) by lumbar puncture were collected as samples. mRNA expression and level of IL-27, IL-17, Th17, IL-17-producing CD4 + T cells and also protein concentration and VDRL of CSF were investigated. To obtain proposed results, flow cytometry, RT-PCR and ELISA were used.
Results: The mRNA expression of IL-27 in PBMCs declined significantly in NS patients compared to healthy controls ( p = 0.002) and S patients ( p = 0.005) and decreased significantly in CSF of NS patients in comparison to healthy controls ( p = 0.002) and S patients ( p = 0.003). The frequency of IL-17-producing CD4 + T cells increased significantly in PBMCs of NS patients in comparison to healthy controls ( p = 0.004) and S patients ( p = 0.004). This frequency also increased significantly in CSF of NS patients compared to C ( p = 0.007) and S patients ( p = 0.003). Adding rIL-27 significantly prevented the frequency of IL-17-producing CD4 + T cells from naïve CD4 + T cells under Th17 polarizing conditions from NS patients ( p = 0.043), C ( p = 0.043), and S patients ( p = 0.002) in PBMCs, and also 0.03, 0.02 and 0.03 respectively for NS, S and C of CSF. The results revealed a significant negative relationship between CSF protein and VDRL concentrations and CSF IL-27 levels.
Conclusions: This study confirms previous efforts on the critical role of IL-17 in NS. Also, it supports other results on the inhibitory effects of IL-27 on the therapeutic potential of IL-27 in NS and the inflammation process.

Abstract The NACHT, LRR, and PYD domains-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is a multimolecular complex that plays a fundamental role in inflammation. Optimal activation of NLRP3 inflammasome is crucial for host defense against pathogens and the maintenance of immune homeostasis. Aberrant NLRP3 inflammasome activity has been implicated in various inflammatory diseases. Posttranslational modifications (PTMs) of NLRP3, a key inflammasome sensor, play critical roles in directing inflammasome activation and controlling the severity of inflammation and inflammatory diseases, such as arthritis, peritonitis, inflammatory bowel disease, atherosclerosis, and Parkinson's disease. Various NLRP3 PTMs, including phosphorylation, ubiquitination, and SUMOylation, could direct inflammasome activation and control inflammation severity by affecting the protein stability, ATPase activity, subcellular localization, and oligomerization of NLRP3 as well as the association between NLRP3 and other inflammasome components. Here, we provide an overview of the PTMs of NLRP3 and their roles in controlling inflammation and summarize potential anti-inflammatory drugs targeting NLRP3 PTMs.
