Abstract A new species of freshwater crab is described from southern Thailand, near the border with Peninsular Malaysia. Species of Stoliczia are characterised by their relatively flat carapace, a third maxilliped exopod that possesses no or a very short flagellum, and a conical male gonopod terminal segment that lacks or only has a very low dorsal fold. Stoliczia setoiyenica, new species, most closely resembles S. perlensis and S. kedahensis from northern Peninsula Malaysia but can be easily distinguished from congeners by differences in carapace and male gonopod morphology. Comparisons to the two known Thai Stoliczia species, S. panhai and S. ekavibhathai, are also provided for completeness.

Abstract Abstract Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are multilayer structures. The interface between electron transport layer and perovskite is the mechanical weakest point in flexible PSCs due to its low fracture energy. Herein, we develop a highly adhesive polyamide-amine-based hyperbranched polymers to reinforce the interface. The interface fracture energy is improved from 1.08 to 2.13 J·m−2 by the hyperbranched polymers with adhesive groups and dynamic hydrogen bond networks. The polymer functionalized perovskite solar cells achieve superior power conversion efficiencies of 25.05% and 23.86% for rigid and flexible devices, respectively. Furthermore, the hyperbranched polymer contains abundant intramolecular cavities that can capture Pb2+. Pb leakage after solar cell damage is effectively suppressed. Our findings provide insights on designing adhesive interface layers towards high-efficiency, mechanical-stable and environment-friendly flexible perovskite solar cells.

Abstract The present study analyzed the potential biomarkers of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) with lung-Qi deficiency syndrome by non-targeted metabolomics and explored the biological basis of this syndrome. Blood samples of 96 COPD patients with lung-Qi deficiency syndrome(COPD with lung-Qi deficiency syndrome group) and 106 healthy people(healthy control group) were collected, and the metabolic profiles of both groups were analyzed by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-TOF-MS). Multivariate statistical analysis and differential metabolite screening were carried out by using Progenesis QI and Simca-P. Metabolic pathways were constructed through the MetaboAnalyst. Seven potential biomarkers, such as L-cystathionine, protoporphyrinogen Ⅸ, and citalopram aldehyde, were identified. Compared with the results in the healthy control group, the content of citalopram aldehyde, N1-methyl-2-pyridone-5-carboxamide, and 11β,17β-dihydroxy-4-androsten-3-one was significantly up-regulated, while that of the other four compounds such as L-cystathionine, dihydrotestosterone, protoporphyrinogen Ⅸ, and D-urobilinogen was down-regulated. These potential biomarkers involved six metabolic pathways, including cysteine and methionine metabolism, porphyrin and chlorophyll metabolism, drug metabolism of cytochrome P450, steroid hormone biosynthesis, glycine, serine, and threonine metabolism, and nicotinate and nicotinamide meta-bolism. This study is expected to provide a certain scientific basis for the research on traditional Chinese medicine syndrome of COPD with lung-Qi deficiency syndrome from the molecular biology level.

Abstract AbstractBackground This study aimed to understand the clinical characteristics and outcomes of children with Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) in China. Methods We conducted a retrospective study of 95 paediatric patients with LCH in West China Second University Hospital of Sichuan University between July 2013 and August 2020.Results The onset age of multisystem LCH (MS-LCH) patients with risk organ (RO) involvement was younger than that of MS-LCH without RO involvement (p = .002) and single system LCH (p < .001) patients; bone was the most frequently involved organ, followed by the skin. Of all, the BRAF-V600E mutation was detected in 48 out of 84 patients who underwent gene analysis. Additionally, in our study, BRAF p.N486_T491 > K, BRAF p.L485_P490delinsF, BRAF p.R506_K507insLLR, ARAF p.Q349_F351delinsL and MAP2K1 p.Q58_E62del were known mutations in the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway. The BRAF-V600E genotype in the tissue and plasma prior to therapy were detected in 16 patients, and the concordance was only 37.5% (6/16). According to the modified LCH-III-based-protocol, JLSG-02 protocol chemotherapy, and vemurafenib, the estimated five-year overall survival, event-free survival (EFS) and cumulative reactivation rates of 95 patients were 98.8%, 74.6% and 24.5%, respectively. The EFS rate in good responders was better than that in poor responders at 12-week (HR = 0.022, 95%CI 0.002–0.231, p = .002), and EFS was not affected by age, RO involvement or BRAF-V600E mutation. Regarding sequelae, nine patients had central diabetes insipidus and two had growth retardation. Conclusions In this study, LCH was a highly heterogeneous disease characterized molecularly by MAPK-pathway activating mutations. Vincristine, prednisone and cytarabine-based chemotherapy combined with vemurafenib improved the prognosis of childhood LCH. In future, prospective clinical trials and novel therapeutic strategies should be developed to improve outcomes in paediatric patients with LCH.KEY MESSAGEChildren with ...

Abstract The Surprise Question is an effective tool to identify patients in need of palliative care. But it is unknown whether the Surprise Question can effectively predict adverse outcomes in Emergency patients. Therefor this study is to determine the utility of the modified Surprise Question for risk stratification in emergency patients. And assessed if the modified Surprise Question could be used by different healthcare personnel. Nurses and patients’ families were asked to respond as “Yes” or “No” to the modified Surprise Question for each patient. The outcome was resuscitation unit admission. Logistic regression was used to determine covariant significantly associated with resuscitation unit admission. The area under the curve for the second Surprise Question response by nurses was 0.620, which improved to 0.704 when the responses of nurses and patients’ families were in agreement. The clinical impression of nurses is a valuable tool to predict altered conditions for medium-acuity patients, and the diagnostic accuracy improves when responses of patients’ families and nurses agreed. Abstract Summary: Background: Risk models integrating new biomarkers to predict cardiovascular events in acute coronary syndromes (ACS) are lacking. Therefore, we evaluated the prognostic value of biomarkers in addition to clinical predictors and developed a biomarker-based risk model for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) within 12 months after hospital admission with ACS. Methods: Patients (n = 4407) consecutively enrolled from November, 2017 to October, 2019 in three hospitals of a prospective Chinese registry (BIomarker-based Prognostic Assessment for Patients with Stable Angina and Acute Coronary Syndromes, BIPass) were designated as the risk model development cohort. Validation was performed in 1409 patients enrolled in two independent hospitals. Cox proportional hazards regression analysis was used to generate a risk prediction model and evaluate the incremental prognostic value of each biomarker. Findings: Over 12 months, 196 patients experienced MACE (5.1%/year). Among twelve candidate biomarkers, N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) measured at baseline showed the most prognostic capability independent of clinical predictors. The developed BIPass risk model included age, hypertension, previous myocardial infarction, stroke, Killip class, heart rate, and NT-proBNP. It displayed improved discrimination (C-statistic 0.79, 95% CI 0.73-0.85), calibration (GOF = 9.82, p = 0.28) and clinical decision curve in the validation cohort, outperforming the GRACE and TIMI risk scores. Cumulative rates for MACE demonstrated good separation in the BIPass predicted low, intermediate, and high-risk groups. Interpretation: The BIPass risk model, integrating clinical variables and NT-proBNP, is useful for predicting 12-month MACE in ACS. It effectively identifies a gradient risk of cardiovascular events to aid personalized care.
