Abstract Objective: To study on the cost-benefit from anemia and stunting reduction of Ying Yang Bao(YYB) intervention in 6 to 23 months rural infants in the six counties of Shanxi, Hubei and Yunnan provinces.
Methods: YYB was distributed to 6-23 months infants in 6 counties by YYB nutrition intervention project. The numbers of childhood recovered from stunting and anemia was collected by a designed project monitoring plan. The cost-benefit was analyzed with PROFILING model as a nutritional microeconomic tool.
Results: Total numbers of monitored infants was 10 672 while the total cost of YYB intervention was estimated 2.57 million RMB. From 2012 to 2020, the total benefit was 14.92 million RMB from recover of stunting and anemia by YYB project and the average cost-benefit ratio of 6 counties was 1∶5.8. Sensitivity analysis showed the result of this study was stable.
Conclusion: The YYB nutrition intervention for infants aged 6-23 months in the six counties of Shanxi, Hubei and Yunnan provinces showed a high cost-benefit ratio.

Abstract Objective: To study on the cost-benefit from anemia reduction of 6-24 months infants in poor rural regions by Ying Yang Bao( YYB) intervention.
Methods: YYB was donated and distributed to 6-24 months infants in 8 counties in provinces of Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi. Total covered infants were 25 125 within them 1200 were sampled and measured hemoglobin levels and change of anemia prevalence in the baseline and after 1 year intervention. Total recovered infants number from anemia was calculated with decrease of anemia rate. The cost-benefit was analyzed with PROFILING and DALY models.
Results: The total cost estimated was 6 134 871 RMB, average cost per person was 244 RMB among which costs of YYB, administration and manpower were 121 RMB, 104 RMB and 19 RMB respectively. After 1 year intervention, the anemia rate significantly declined from 52. 8 % to 26. 3 %. The recovered DALYs from present anemia and future cognition was 4863. 08 person·year. Benefit from 1 year YYB intervention in the counties was 69. 3065 million RMB from PROFILING model and60. 6874 million RMB from DALY model. The average cost of the intervention was 938. 46 RMB in saving 1 anemic and 1261. 52 RMB in saving 1 DALY loss in YYB intervention project. The cost-benefit ratio was 1 ∶ 10 at least. Sensitivity analysis showed stability of this cost-benefit analysis acceptable.
Conclusion: The nutrition intervention using YYB for poor rural region showed high economic benefit.

Abstract CHEN Ying-long is a famous acupuncturist in modern China. He is one of the disciples of CHENG Dan-an who is considered as the initiator of the Chengjiang acupuncture school. Through collecting and sorting of CHEN's theses and medical records which carried on and developed the Chengjiang acupuncture school, it is found that his academic features of acupuncture manifested in the following points: attaching importance on prac tice of qi and finger force; valuing the reinforcing and reducing manipulations according to midnight-noon and ebb-flow doctrine; utilizing moxibustion to treat difficult and complicated diseases; applied group points to treat chronic diseases; good at treating manic type of mental disorder with deep acupuncture at Fengfu (GV 16).

Abstract Aquaporin-1 (AQP-1) is expressed in lung endothelial cells and regulates water transport; thus, AQP-1 plays an important role in a number of edema-associated lung diseases. Qing Yin Tang (QYT), a traditional Chinese medicine, has been shown to effectively reduce the mortality rate of acute lung injury (ALI) induced by severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). The current study aimed to investigate the detailed mechanisms underlying the effects of QYT on ALI induced by SAP, particularly the effects on the expression levels of AQP-1 in the lung tissue. ALI was established in Wister rats who were subsequently divided into four groups: SHAM, ALI, dexamethasone (DEX) and QYT groups (n=8 per group). In the QYT group, 20 ml/kg QYT was administered by gavage immediately following the induction of SAP. Blood and lung tissues were collected 8 h following the induction of pancreatitis. The lung wet/dry ratio, as well as the levels of blood gases, serum amylase and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), were measured at 4, 8 and 12 h following SAP-associated ALI induction surgery. The expression levels of AQP-1 in the lung tissue were detected by quantitative polymerase chain reaction, immunohistochemistry and western blot analysis. No statistically significant differences were observed with regard to the levels of serum amylase, wet/dry ratio, partial pressure of oxygen, serum TNF-α and pathological changes in the pulmonary tissue between the QYT and DEX groups; however, a statistically significant difference was observed when compared with the ALI group. The expression levels of AQP-1 significantly increased (P<0.05) and lung edema was alleviated in the QYT and DEX groups, when compared with ALI group. Therefore, the expression level of AQP-1 is associated with pulmonary edema. QYT protects the lungs from injury induced by SAP via the upregulation of AQP-1, which suppresses TNF-α expression.
