Abstract Background: The polymer-based facile and effective drug carrier approach was developed to treat superficial fungal infected retinopathy infections.
Methods: Here, biotin-glutathione (B-GHS) functionalized with chitosan grafted proline (CS-g-P) moieties were fabricated with the loading of fluconazole (FLZ) for the treatment of retinopathy. FT-IR and XRD techniques were used to characterize chemical structural and phase changes of the prepared carriers The SEM results show that the sphere morphology with interconnection particle nature.
Results: The particle diameter was found as ~ 6.5 and ~ 8.6 nm for CS-g-P/B-GHS and FLZ-loaded CS-g-P/B-GHS carriers, respectively. The negative surface charge was found as the values of CS-g-P/B-GHS and FLZ-loaded CS-g-P/B-GHS, such as -20.7 mV and - 32.2 mV, from zeta potential analysis. The in-vitro FLZ releases from the CS-g-P/B-GHS were investigated at pH 7.4 (PBS) as the tear fluid environment, and it was observed at 85.02% of FLZ release in 8 h reaction time. The sustained release was observed, leading to the necessity for prolonged therapeutic effects. The antifungal effect of the carrier was studied by the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and the percentage inhibition of viable fungal count against Candida albicans, and it observed 81.02% of the zone of inhibition by the FLZ carrier.
Conclusion: FLZ-loaded CS-g-P/B-GHS carrier could inhibit the biofilm formation in a concentration-dependent inhibition. Hence, A novel FLZ/B-GHS-CS-g-P carrier is a hopeful approach for effectively treating superficial fungal contaminations of the retina region.

Abstract Objectives: Stroke has become the leading cause of death and disability among adults in China. This study aims to analyze the disease burden based on gender and age and the risk factors for stroke subtypes in China 2019, and to provide reference for targeted stroke prevention and control.
Methods: Based on 2019 data of the Global Burden of Disease (GBD), the gender and age in patients with different stroke subtypes (ischemic stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage) in China 2019 was described by using disability-adjusted life years (DALY), and attributable burden of related risk factors was analyzed.
Results: In 2019, the burden of intracranial hemorrhage was the heaviest one in China, resulting in 22.210 6 million person years of DALY, following by ischemic stroke and subarachnoid hemorrhage, resulting in 21.393 9 and 2.344 7 million person years of DALY, respectively. Among them, except the 0-14 age group, the disease burden of different subtypes of stroke in men was higher than that in women. The disease burden of ischemic stroke was increased with age in both men and women, with the heaviest disease burden in ≥70 years group. The disease burden of intracranial hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage was the heaviest in males aged 50-69 years old, and in females aged ≥70 years and 50-69 years, respectively. Metabolic factors were the main risk factors in all ages of different stroke subtypes, and the most important risk factor was high systolic blood pressure. Other risk factors were different between men and women. Smoking, high body mass index, high low-density lipoprotein, and outdoor particulate matter pollution were the main risk factors for stroke in men, while high body mass index, outdoor particulate matter pollution, and high fasting blood glucose were the main risk factors of stroke in women. The main risk were different among different age groups.
Conclusions: The burden and attributable risk factors for different stroke subtypes are discrepancy in different gender and age groups. Targeted interventions should be conducted in the future to reduce the burden of stroke.

Abstract The mechanical properties of metastable β-titanium alloys are highly susceptible during the thermal mechanical processing (TMP). In this process, the recrystallization process plays an important role in determining the microstructure and texture evolution. The implementation of dynamic recrystallization (DRX), a process for achieving β-grain refinement, is considered of great significance for the improvement of the properties of metastable β-titanium alloys and their industrial production. Along these lines, in this work, an isothermal compression test of TB8 titanium alloy was carried out by using a Gleeble-3500 thermal simulator. As a result, the rheological stress behavior was analyzed, the thermal processing map was accurately established based on the stress-strain curve, and the optimal processing interval was determined. The DRX kinetic and the DRX grain size models were developed, on the basis of which a new DRX intrinsic model was established to improve the material parameters. Therefore, the actual situation in the working process could be better predicted. The microstructural evolution of TB8 titanium alloy during thermal deformation was comprehensively investigated using the electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) technique. The obtained results demonstrate a close correlation between the diversity of DRX mechanisms in TB8 alloy and the distribution of dislocation density. Four microstructural textures during thermal deformation were identified, in which the cube texture of (001) <010> and the R-Gorss Nd texture of (110) <110> dominate. Due to the random orientation of the dynamically recrystallized grains, the strength of the R-Gorss Nd texture of (110) <110> increases with the increase in the volume fraction of DRX. On the contrary, it was verified that the dynamic recrystallization behavior has a significant weakening impact on the cube texture of (001) <010>.

Abstract This research is concentrated on investigating the role and mechanism of miR-652-3p in the protective effects of isoflurane (ISO) against myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. H9c2 cells underwent pretreatment with varying concentrations of ISO, and subsequently, a hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) model was constructed. The levels of miR-652-3p, ISL LIM homeobox 1 (ISL1), and inflammatory cytokines interleukin (IL)-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) were evaluated through reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was employed to investigate concentrations of myocardial injury markers, such as creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB) and cardiac troponin I (cTnI). Cell counting kit-8 was used to evaluate cell viability, while flow cytometry was utilized to measure apoptosis. Additionally, a dual luciferase reporter assay was conducted to validate the targeting relationship between ISL1 and miR-652-3p. Herein, we confirmed that the level of miR-652-3p was gradually increased with prolonged hypoxia; nevertheless, this increase was suppressed by ISO pretreatment (P < 0.05). Additionally, ISO pretreatment prevented the decrease in cell viability, increase in apoptosis, and overproduction of IL-6, TNF-α, CK-MB, and cTnI induced by H/R (P < 0.05). However, the inhibitory effects of ISO were counteracted by the increased levels of miR-652-3p (P < 0.05). ISL1 is a potential target of miR-652-3p. H/R induction suppressed ISL1 levels compared to the control, but ISO treatment increased its expression (P < 0.05). Overexpression of ISL1 inhibited the elimination of the protective effect of ISO on myocardial damage induced by the elevation of miR-652-3p (P < 0.05). The findings of this research confirm that miR-652-3p attenuated the protective effect of ISO on cardiomyocytes in myocardial ischemia by targeting ISL1.

Abstract For computing-intensive artificial intelligence (AI) training tasks, the computational graph is more complex, and data loading, task division of the computational graph, and load balancing of task scheduling have become the key factors affecting the computing performance. This paper proposes three optimization methods to make the task scheduling of model training in deep learning compilers reach the load balance state. Firstly, the load balance between CPU and back-end computing devices is realized by automatically establishing an efficient pipeline for data loading and model training, which improves the overall energy efficiency of the system. Secondly, the layered optimization technology of computational graph is used to realize the load balance of computational graph when the back-end devices are scheduling. Finally, this paper improves the resource utilization of back-end devices by automatically establishing efficient pipeline between layers. Experimental results show that the proposed optimization method achieves the system load balancing in the process of automatically mapping the training tasks to underlying hardware devices. Compared with traditional deep learning frameworks and compilers such as TensorFlow, nGraph, etc., this paper achieves 2%~10% performance improvement in the training of different AI models, and the overall power consumption of the training system can be reduced by more than 10%.

Abstract Sympathetic innervation plays a crucial role in maintaining energy balance and contributes to metabolic pathophysiology. Recent evidence has begun to uncover the innervation landscape of sympathetic projections and sheds light on their important functions in metabolic activities. Additionally, the immune system has long been studied for its essential roles in metabolic health and diseases. In this review, the aim is to provide an overview of the current research progress on the sympathetic regulation of key metabolic organs, including the pancreas, liver, intestine, and adipose tissues. In particular, efforts are made to highlight the critical roles of the peripheral nervous system and its potential interplay with immune components. Overall, it is hoped to underscore the importance of studying metabolic organs from a comprehensive and interconnected perspective, which will provide valuable insights into the complex mechanisms underlying metabolic regulation and may lead to novel therapeutic strategies for metabolic diseases.
