    Abstract This paper develops low-carbon decisions in a two-echelon supply chain considering consumers' low-carbon preference and cap-and-trade (C&T) regulation. Two different power structures are considered, including manufacturer-dominated (MD) and retailer-dominated (RD) cases. The single emission reduction (SER) mode where only the manufacturer invests in low-carbon technology and the cooperative emission reduction (CER) mode where the manufacturer invests in low-carbon technology and the retailer invest in low-carbon promotion are investigated respectively. It is found that a relatively loose C&T regulation helps to promote the cooperation of supply chain enterprises. Under both MD and RD cases, CER mode is always a rational choice for supply chain enterprises. Under SER mode, the manufacturer's profit will not always decrease when he loses the dominant position. However, the RD case is profitable for the retailer and the supply chain. Under CER mode, the dominant role is important for both the manufacturer and the retailer. However, the profit of the supply chain under RD case may be lower than that under MD case. Through numerical analysis, we found that the fluctuation of carbon price has a more significant impact on the manufacturer's emission reduction decision under CER mode than that under SER mode. In addition, with the increase of unit carbon price, the RD case performs better than the MD case in promoting supply chain's low-carbon level and profit.

    Abstract With the significant increase of fossil energy consumption and the ever-worsening pollution of environment, low-carbon development becomes an inevitable choice. Carbon finance can help firms alleviate the finance pressure from carbon emission reduction. This research explores two financing methods, delay-in-payment and bank loan; and two cooperation decisions, carbon emission reduction cooperation and price cooperation. Four scenarios are considered: non-cooperation, partial-cooperation delay-in-payment, supply chain carbon finance (SCCF), and full-cooperation. We discuss how firms make their pricing and carbon emission reduction decisions under different cooperative levels and financing methods. For a manufacturer-dominated supply chain, the results show that SCCF will help the small and medium enterprise seek cooperation with the monopoly manufacturer, and improve supply chain’s profit compared to green loan. What’s more, SCCF pattern can effectively control the total carbon emission. In addition, we extend the model to consider the retailer-dominated case. The results show that SCCF pattern can help increase the emission reduction rate of the whole supply chain. From the perspective of emission reduction efficiency, it is better for the government to promote the SCCF mode in the retailer-dominated supply chain.

    Abstract The reduction of carbon emission has become an inevitable trend and a world-wide consensus. Under the low-carbon environment, it is an important task for supply chain members to reduce carbon emissions through low-carbon progressing. This paper focuses on the emission reduction behaviors for the chain members in both the retail-channel and dual-channel cases using the Stackelberg game model. The paper analyzes a detailed model which incorporates both cap-and-trade regulation and consumers' low-carbon preference. The results suggest that when the degree of consumers' low-carbon sensitivity satisfies certain conditions, the introduction of the online channel is profitable for the manufacturer. In addition, the cap-and-trade mechanism is acceptable for supply chain members when consumers have strong low-carbon preference. Furthermore, two emission reduction strategies are compared, including single manufacturer's emission reduction in production strategy and joint emission reduction strategy, of which entails manufacturer's and retailer's emission reduction. It can be concluded that the joint emission reduction strategy is more profitable for both the manufacturer and the retailer. When considering consumers' low-carbon preference, the retailer always has motivation to implement low-carbon promotion though without the manufacturer's incentives. The low-carbon promotion can help achieve emission reduction goals, promote economic development and social progress. The results can provide useful insights for policy-makers to implement effective regulations and for decision-makers to implement sustainability initiatives.

    Abstract Recently, the immunotherapy has been highlighted among cancer treatments. Cancer-testis antigen (CTA) has been studied in a variety of solid tumors because of its specific expression in tumors, and testis, ovary and placenta tissues, but not in other normal tissues. In order to provide a new approach for multiple myeloma (MM) immunotherapy, we examined the CTA expression in MM cell lines, and primary myeloma cells in patients with MM. Reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to detect the mRNA expression of MAGE-C1/CT7, SSX1, SSX2 and SSX4 in MM cell lines of RPMI-8226 and U266, and bone marrow (BM) cells of 25 MM patients and 18 healthy volunteers. The results showed that the 4 CTAs were expressed in RPMI-8226 and U266 cell lines. The positive expression rate of MAGE-C1/CT7, SSX1, SSX2 and SSX4 in the BM cells of 25 MM patients was 28% (7/25), 80% (20/25), 40% (10/25) and 68% (17/25), respectively. In contrast, the expression of any member of the CTAs was not detected in BM cells of 18 healthy volunteers. The expression of two or more CTAs was detected in 80% (20/25) MM patients, and that of at least one CTA in 88% (22/25). The mRNA expression levels of SSX1 and SSX4 were significantly higher in patients with MM at stage III than in those at stage I and II (P<0.05). No statistically significant differences were observed in the mRNA expression levels of MAGE-C1/CT7 and SSX2 in further stratified analyses by age, gender, MM types and percentage of MM cells in BM (P>0.05). In conclusion, our present study showed that MAGE-C1/CT7, SSX1, SSX2 and SSX4 were co-expressed in MM cell lines and the primary myeloma cells in MM patients, but not expressed in BM cells of healthy subjects. The mRNA levels of SSX1 and SSX4 are associated with MM clinical stage. This work may provide a new insight into MM immunotherapy in the future.
