Abstract To develop the hotel industry’s competitiveness, research on satisfaction and revisit intentions has always been important. More research has recently focused on guests’ pro-environmental behaviors and low-carbon management in the hotel industry. This research creates a recreationist-environmental fit satisfaction-revisit intention model based on the recreationist-environmental fit theory. This study surveyed seven green-standard hotels in Sanya, China, and tested the moderating effect of guests’ environmental behavior on their satisfaction and willingness to revisit. Self-administered questionnaires were distributed to respondents who had visited the surveyed green-standard hotels. Two hundred and forty-five valid questionnaires were collected with the hypotheses developed and examined using the SEM and HMR methods. The results indicated that the suitability of a leisure environment could positively impact guest satisfaction, which positively affected their willingness to revisit. In addition, this study proved the moderating effect of guests’ pro-environmental behaviors between satisfaction and revisit intentions.

Abstract We propose a scheme to realize a four-port quantum optical circulator for critical coupling of a spinning Kerr resonator to two tapered fibers. Its nonreciprocal effect arises from the Fizeau drag induced splitting of the resonance frequencies of the two counter-travelling optical modes. The transmitted photons exhibit direction dependent quantum correlations and nonreciprocal photon blockade occurs for photons transferred between the two fibers. Moreover, the quantum optical circulator is robust against the back scattering induced by intermodal coupling between counter-travelling optical modes. The present quantum optical circulator has significant potential as an elementary cell in chiral quantum information processing without magnetic field.

Abstract Abstract Coacervation, or liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) of biomacromolecules, is increasingly recognized to play an important role both intracellularly and in the extracellular space. Central questions that remain to be addressed are the links between the material properties of coacervates (condensates) and both the primary and the secondary structures of their constitutive building blocks. Short LLPS-prone peptides, such as GY23 variants explored in this study, are ideal model systems to investigate these links because simple sequence modifications and the chemical environment strongly affect the viscoelastic properties of coacervates. Herein, a systematic investigation of the structure/property relationships of peptide coacervates was conducted using GY23 variants, combining biophysical characterization (plate rheology and surface force apparatus, SFA) with secondary structure investigations by infrared (IR) and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. Mutating specific residues into either more hydrophobic or more hydrophilic residues strongly regulates the viscoelastic properties of GY23 coacervates. Furthermore, the ionic strength and kosmotropic characteristics (Hofmeister series) of the buffer in which LLPS is induced also significantly impact the properties of formed coacervates. Structural investigations by CD and IR indicate a direct correlation between variations in properties induced by endogenous (peptide sequence) or exogenous (ionic strength, kosmotropic characteristics, aging) factors and the β-sheet content within coacervates. These findings provide valuable insights to rationally design short peptide coacervates with programmable materials properties that are increasingly used in biomedical applications.

Abstract In recent years, the environmental authorities in Taiwan have begun paying attention to the management of burning incense and joss paper during the Chinese folk belief worship process due to it being a source of air pollution. However, because of the specific religious comfort function, as well as the corresponding economic and social influence of the folk temple itself, devout believers and visitors tend to be more concerned about the temple’s environmental measures under the new policy implementation. Chinese folk temples are a good case study, as they strongly represent the sacrificial habits of many residents on the island. The present study was conducted with this framework in mind. The main objectives include exploring the following: 1) the attitudes of the visitors toward air pollution control in the temple, 2) their willingness to visit after the worshipped temple improves air quality, and 3) factors affecting the worshippers’ visit intention and policy satisfaction. Descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression were utilized. The research shows that, first, the findings strongly suggested that the visitors’ attitudes toward air pollution control in this area were positive; second, for air pollution control in the temple, the survey revealed that visitors’ education level and place attachment were the main factors affecting their visit intention and policy satisfaction. What we have discovered means that people prefer better air quality measures to maintain fundamental religious worship rituals. They had clear ideas about the trade-off between spirituality and environmental protection.

Abstract This study aimed to examine the expression and biological functions of ACTL6A in glioma cells (U251), the effects of sulforaphane on the growth of U251 cells and the involvement of the ACTL6A/PGK1 pathway in those effects. The U251 cell line was transfected with ACTL6A over-expression plasmids to upregulate the protein, or with ACTL6A inhibitor to underexpress it, then treated with different concentrations of sulforaphane. Cell viability, proliferation, and apoptosis were assessed using standard assays, and levels of mRNAs encoding ACTL6A, PGK1, cyclin D1, Myc, Bax or Bcl-2 were measured using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). ACTL6A and PGK1 were expressed at higher levels in glioma cell lines than in normal HEB cells. ACTL6A overexpression upregulated PGK1, whereas ACTL6A inhibition had the opposite effect. ACTL6A overexpression induced proliferation, whereas its inhibition repressed proliferation, enhanced apoptosis, and halted the cell cycle. Moreover, sulforaphane suppressed the growth of U251 cells by inactivating the ACTL6A/PGK1 axis. ACTL6A acts

Abstract The Southern Indian Ocean is a major reservoir for rapid carbon exchange with the atmosphere, plays a key role in the world’s carbon cycle. To understand the importance of anthropogenic CO2 uptake in the Southern Indian Ocean, a variety of methods have been used to quantify the magnitude of the CO2 flux between air and sea. The basic approach is based on the bulk formula—the air-sea CO2 flux is commonly calculated by the difference in the CO2 partial pressure between the ocean and the atmosphere, the gas transfer velocity, the surface wind speed, and the CO2 solubility in seawater. However, relying solely on wind speed to measure the gas transfer velocity at the sea surface increases the uncertainty of CO2 flux estimation. Recent studies have shown that the generation and breaking of ocean waves also significantly affect the gas transfer process at the air-sea interface. In this study, we highlight the impact of windseas on the process of air-sea CO2 exchange and address its important role in CO2 uptake in the Southern Indian Ocean. We run the WAVEWATCH III model to simulate surface waves in this region over the period from January 1st 2002 to December 31st 2021. Then, we use the spectral partitioning method to isolate windseas and swells from total wave fields. Finally, we calculate the CO2 flux based on the new semiempirical equation for gas transfer velocity considering only windseas. We found that after considering windseas’ impact, the seasonal mean zonal flux (mmol/m2·d) increased approximately 10%-20% compared with that calculated solely on wind speed in all seasons. Evolution of air-sea net carbon flux (PgC) increased around 5.87%-32.12% in the latest 5 years with the most significant seasonal improvement appeared in summer. Long-term trend analysis also indicated that the CO2 absorption capacity of the whole Southern Indian Ocean gradually increased during the past 20 years. These findings extend the understanding of the roles of the Southern Indian Ocean in the global carbon cycle and are useful for ...

Abstract Objective: To explore the efficacy of olopatadine in the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis and the changes of ECP and IgE levels in the serum and tear before and after treatment. Methods: A total of 94 patients with allergic conjunctivitis were included in the study and randomized into the treatment group and the control group with 47 cases in each group. The patients in the control group were given sodium cromoglycate eye drops, while the patients in the treatment group were given olopatadine eye drops. After 2-week treatment, the clinical efficacy in the two groups was evaluated. The improvement of symptoms before and after treatment in the two groups was recorded and compared. The levels of serm and tear related indicators in the two groups were detected and compared. Results: When compared with before treatment, HA, ECP, and IgE levels in the serum and tear 1 and 2 weeks after treatment in the two groups were significantly reduced, and the reduced degree in the treatment group was significantly superior to that in the control group. Conclusions: Olopatadine in the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis can effectively reduce the serum and tear ECP and IgE levels, and rapidly alleviate the clinical symptoms of affected eye, with the clinical efficacy significantly superior to that by sodium cromoglycate eye drops.
