Abstract In this paper, we investigate the algebraic structure of the non-local ring Rq=Fq[v]/⟨v2+1⟩ and identify the automorphisms of this ring to study the algebraic structure of the skew constacyclic codes and their duals over this ring. Furthermore, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for the skew constacyclic codes over Rq to be linear complementary dual (LCD). We present some examples of Euclidean LCD codes over Rq and tabulate the parameters of Euclidean LCD codes over finite fields as the Φ-images of these codes over Rq, which are almost maximum distance separable (MDS) and near MDS. Eventually, by making use of Hermitian linear complementary duals of skew constacyclic codes over Rq and the map Φ, we give a class of entanglement-assisted quantum error correcting codes (EAQECCs) with maximal entanglement and tabulate parameters of some EAQECCs with maximal entanglement over finite fields.

Abstract Objectives: The natural history of chronic HBV infection (CHB) is generally divided into four phases: HBeAg-positive chronic HBV infection (EPCI) and -hepatitis (EPCH), HBeAg-negative chronic HBV infection (ENCI) and -hepatitis (ENCH). This study aimed to investigate changes in serum quantitative surface antigen (qHBsAg), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) in a large number of CHB patients.
Method: Three hundred seventy-two CHB patients who underwent liver biopsy between January 2015 and February 2020 were evaluated.
    Results: The SII-values were strongly significant between EPCI-EPCH ( P = 0.002), however, there was significant difference between ENCI-ENCH ( P = 0.025). Considering the SIRI results, there was a significant difference between both EPCI-EPCH ( P = 0.009) and ENCI-ENCH ( P = 0.118). In HBeAg-positive patients HBV-DNA, qHBsAg, and SII were found to be predictive ( P = 0.029, P = 0.039, P = 0.027, respectively) while in HBeAg-negative patients, age, AST, HBV-DNA, qHBsAg, SII, and SIRI were found to be predictive ( P = 0.047, P = 0.084, P = <0.001, P = 0.001, P = 0.012, P = 0.002, respectively). In EPCH phase, whereby accuracy rate results of HBV-DNA, qHBsAg, and SII were 75.3%, 73.4%, and 60.4%, respectively, while in the ENCH phase the accuracy rates of age, AST, HBV-DNA, qHBsAg, SII, and SIRI values were 57.8%, 65.6%, 68.3%, 63.8%, 57.3% and 53.2%, respectively.
Conclusion: HBV-DNA, qHBsAg, and SII are predictive in EPCH patients. Age, AST, HBV-DNA, qHBsAg, SII and SIRI are all predictive in ENCH patients. In patients with CHB, we recommend using SII to distinguish between EPCI-EPCH and ENCI-ENCH. Based on its sensitivity and features, we believe that qHBsAg and SII are suitable measuring instruments in discrimination both of EPCI-EPCH and ENCI-ENCH.

Abstract Introduction: In recent years, the rapid spread of carbapenem-resistant K. pneumoniae, their higher mortality rates, and limited treatment alternatives cause difficulties in the treatment of these infections. New treatment alternatives are needed to cope with resistant strains. In recent years, natural products such as Quercetin have started to be preferred in combination studies due to their antimicrobial effects and low side-effect profiles. The aim of this study was to investigate the in vitro efficacy of the combination of Quercetin and Meropenem on carbapenemase-producing (blaKPC, blaNDM, blaVIM, blaOXA-48, and blaIMP), carbapenem-resistant K.pneumoniae isolates using the checkerboard method.
Methodology: Thirty Carbapenem-resistant K.pneumoniae strains in the culture collection of our laboratory were included in our study. Carbapenemase genes were determined using the Xpert® Carba-R (Cepheid, USA). Synergism with meropenem was assessed by checkerboard analysis, followed by FIC index, and combination index calculation.
Results: Twenty (66.6%) strains had OXA-48, 6 (20%) NDM, 1 (3.3%) KPC, 1 (3.3%) OXA-48+NDM genes, and 2 strains (6.6%) gene could not be detected. In the Quercetin and Meropenem combination study, synergy was found in 24 (80%) of the strains; an additive effect was found in 5 (16.6%) and an antagonist effect in 1 (3.3%). In 19 (63.3%) of the strains, meropenem MIC values were below the sensitive limit (MIC ≤ 2 μg/mL).
Conclusions: Although the combination of quercetin and meropenem has a high synergistic effect in carbapenem-resistant K. pneumoniae isolates, it seems that the carbapenemase species affects this situation. however, more work is needed on this subject.

Abstract Objective: It was aimed to profile the blood subgroups of our region and to reveal the prevalence of auto/alloimmune sensitization in patients who had to undergo multiple erythrocyte transfusions and to establish the sensitization profile by screening major and minor subgroups.
Materials and methods: In this study, the distribution of ABO and Rh system major subgroups was studied in 100 donor blood. As the patient group, 50 patients who received three or more red blood cell transfusions were included. In addition to this group, Kell, Lewis, Duffy blood group systems were studied.
Results: According to the ABO system, 35% of the donors were in O, 33% in A, 17% in AB, and 15% in B. According to the Rh system, 75% is Dvi positive. Rh system is 99% e positive and 33% E positive in major subgroups and Kell1 positivity is 8%. In the patient group, 22% D(-) was determined compared to Rh blood group. Among the major subgroups of Rh, C was 68%, E was 14%, c was 76%, and e positivity was found to be 100%. The Kell1 negativity rate is 96%. The highest negativity was found in 86% Lea antigen in Lewis system, in 36% S antigen in MNS system, 34% Fyb antigen in Duffy system, and 24% Jka antigen in Kidd system. When inappropriate blood is given for any antigen, a double population is formed. The double negativities we detected in our study occurred as follows according to blood group systems: E 18%, C 12%, c 8%, Cw 2%, Kell 1 2%, M 8%, N 4%, S 18%, s 6%, Fya 8%, Jka 6%, Jkb 22%. Indirect Agglutination Test (IAT) was negative in all patients.
Conclusion: IAT negativity in all patient groups suggests that we do not develop alloimmunization, but the high rates of double population suggest a high risk of alloimmunization.

Abstract In this study, it was aimed to determine the antibiotic susceptibility of bacterial strains by using flow cytometry method by comparing them with current standardized methods. Eleven clinical isolates and 6 standard bacterial strains were included in the study. MIC values were determined by broth microdilution method (BMD), VITEK 2® automated system and flow cytometric method (FCM). FCM was performed with the Accuri C6 flow cytometer. For all strains except P. aeuruginosa ATCC 27853 [BMD-FCM:r = 0.557(p = 0.048); VITEK 2-FCM:r = 0.529(p = 0.063)], E. faecalis ATCC 29212 [BMD-FCM:r = 0.393(p = 0.295); BMD-VITEK 2:r = 0.393(p = 0.295)], and vancomycin-resistant E. faecium clinical isolate [BMD-FCM:r = 0.452(p = 0.063)] r values were in the range of 0.802-0.969 for BMD-FCM (p < 0.001), 0.655-0.941 for BMD-VITEK 2 (p < 0.005) and 0.667-0.953 for FCM-VITEK 2 (p < 0.005). Correlation values of antibiotic susceptibility test results between three methods for Gram-negative bacteria were found as follows; r = 0.927(p < 0.001) for BMD-FCM, r = 0.851(p < 0.001) for BMD-VITEK 2, r = 0.807(p < 0.001) for VITEK 2-FCM. Correlation values were found as follows for Gram positive bacteria; r = 0.848(p < 0.001) for BMD-FCM, r = 0.877(p < 0.001) for BMD-VITEK 2, r = 0.800(p < 0.001) for VITEK 2-FCM. When all bacteria included in the study were evaluated as a total; it was r = 0.911(p < 0.001) for BMD-FCM, r = 0.888(p < 0.001) for BMD-VITEK 2, r = 0.835(p < 0.001) for VITEK 2-FCM. The methicillin resistance of the clinical methicillin resistant S. aureus isolate could not be detected by FCM. It was determined that there was a high level of correlation between methods. FCM shortens the duration of antibiotic susceptibility tests by 12-14 h and gives results within the same day. However, it has not been standardized to be widely used in microbiology laboratories and experienced personnel are needed for its implementation.
