Abstract The public plays a key role in environmental governance systems. Many studies have discussed the effects of public participation on environmental governance in China from different perspectives. However, there has been no systematic integrated analysis of the effects of public participation on environmental governance and the causes of its heterogeneity. To help fill this gap, we developed a comprehensive analysis framework of the regional differences–participation method–pollution type, and 85 effect sizes were tested by the meta-analysis method. The results showed that there was a weak positive correlation between public environmental participation and the environmental governance effect ( ES = 0.044, p < 0.001). The correlation between the two was regulated by regional space and pollution type. The promotion effect of public participation on waste and noise was significantly higher than that of central and western areas. However, there was no significant difference between the different participation methods. Taken together, these results have important significance for increasing public participation and optimizing the effect of environmental governance.

Abstract With the constant update of deep learning technology, the super-resolution reconstruction technology based on deep learning has also attained a significant breakthrough. This paper primarily discusses the integration of deep learning and super-resolution reconstruction techniques. Regarding the application of deep learning in super-resolution reconstruction, the improvement is focused on the two dimensions of algorithm efficiency and reconstruction effect. On the basis of the currently available neural network algorithms, this paper puts forward the two-stage residual super-resolution reconstruction network structure. Thereinto, the improvement is mainly embodied in the modification of the image feature extraction network modules and the increase of the residual block into two stages. It is experimentally evidenced by algorithm simulation that the two-stage residual network in this paper shows a certain extent of improvement for the super-resolution reconstruction effect compared with the related methods.

Abstract Aim: To analyze the risk factors of proximal junctional kyphosis (PJK) after correction surgery in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS).
Methods: PubMed, Medline, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, and EMCC databases were searched for retrospective studies utilizing all AIS patients with PJK after corrective surgery to collect preoperative, postoperative, and follow-up imaging parameters, including thoracic kyphosis (TK), lumbar lordosis (LL), proximal junctional angle (PJA), the sagittal vertical axis (SVA), pelvic incidence (PI), pelvic tilt (PT), pelvic incidence-lumbar lordosis (PI-LL), sacral slope (SS), rod contour angle (RCA) and upper instrumented vertebra (UIV).
    Results: Nineteen retrospective studies were included in this meta-analysis, including 550 patients in the intervention group and 3456 patients in the control group. Overall, sex (OR 1.40, 95% CI (1.08, 1.83), P = 0.01), larger preoperative TK (WMD 6.82, 95% CI (5.48, 8.16), P < 0.00001), larger follow-up TK (WMD 8.96, 95% CI (5.62, 12.30), P < 0.00001), larger postoperative LL (WMD 2.31, 95% CI (0.91, 3.71), P = 0.001), larger follow-up LL (WMD 2.51, 95% CI (1.19, 3.84), P = 0.0002), great change in LL (WMD - 2.72, 95% CI (- 4.69, - 0.76), P = 0.006), larger postoperative PJA (WMD 4.94, 95% CI (3.62, 6.26), P < 0.00001), larger follow-up PJA (WMD 13.39, 95% CI (11.09, 15.69), P < 0.00001), larger postoperative PI-LL (WMD - 9.57, 95% CI (- 17.42, - 1.71), P = 0.02), larger follow-up PI-LL (WMD - 12.62, 95% CI (- 17.62, - 7.62), P < 0.00001), larger preoperative SVA (WMD 0.73, 95% CI (0.26, 1.19), P = 0.002), larger preoperative SS (WMD - 3.43, 95% CI (- 4.71, - 2.14), P < 0.00001), RCA (WMD 1.66, 95% CI (0.48, 2.84), P = 0.006) were identified as risk factors for PJK in patients with AIS. For patients with Lenke 5 AIS, larger preoperative TK (WMD 7.85, 95% CI (5.69, 10.00), P < 0.00001), larger postoperative TK (WMD 9.66, 95% CI (1.06, 18.26), P = 0.03, larger follow-up TK (WMD 11.92, 95% CI (6.99, 16.86), P < 0.00001, larger preoperative PJA (WMD 0.72, 95% CI (0.03, 1.41), P = 0.04, larger postoperative PJA (WMD 5.54, 95% CI (3.57, 7.52), P < 0.00001), larger follow-up PJA (WMD 12.42, 95% CI 9.24, 15.60), P < 0.00001, larger follow-up SVA (WMD 0.07, 95% CI (- 0.46, 0.60), P = 0.04), larger preoperative PT (WMD - 3.04, 95% CI (- 5.27, - 0.81), P = 0.008, larger follow-up PT (WMD - 3.69, 95% CI (- 6.66, - 0.72), P = 0.02) were identified as risk factors for PJK.
Conclusion: Following corrective surgery, 19% of AIS patients experienced PJK, with Lenke 5 contributing to 25%. Prior and post-op measurements play significant roles in predicting PJK occurrence; thus, meticulous, personalized preoperative planning is crucial. This includes considering individualized treatments based on the Lenke classification as our future evaluation standard.

Abstract Hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC) is used as a critical polishing step in the downstream processing of biopharmaceuticals. Normally the process development of HIC is a cumbersome and time-consuming task, and the mechanical models can provide a powerful tool to characterize the process, assist process design and accelerate process development. However, the current estimation of model parameters relies on the inverse method, which lacks an efficient and logical parameter estimation strategy. In this study, a parameter-by-parameter (PbP) method based on the theoretical derivation and simplifying assumptions was proposed to estimate the Mollerup isotherm parameters for HIC. The method involves three key steps: (1) linear regression (LR) to estimate the salt-protein interaction parameter and the equilibrium constant; (2) linear approximation (LA) to estimate the stoichiometric parameter and the maximum binding capacity; and (3) inverse method to estimate the protein-protein interaction parameter and the kinetic coefficient. The results indicated that the LR step should be used for dilution condition (loading factor below 5%), while the LA step should be conducted when the isotherm is in the transition or nonlinear regions. Six numerical experiments were conducted to implement the PbP method. The results demonstrated that the PbP method developed allows for the systematic estimation of HIC parameters one-by-one, effectively reducing the number of parameters required for inverse method estimation from six to two. This helps prevent non-identifiability of structural parameters. The feasibility of the PbP-HIC method was further validated by real-world experiments. Moreover, the PbP method enhances the mechanistic understanding of adsorption behavior of HIC and shows a promising application to other stoichiometric displacement model-derived isotherms.

Abstract Grasslands are among the most widespread environments on Earth, yet we still have poor knowledge of their microbial-mediated carbon cycling in the context of human activity and climate change. We conducted a systematic bibliometric analysis of 1,660 literature focusing on microbial-mediated grassland carbon cycling in the Scopus database from 1990 to 2022. We observed a steep increase in the number of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary studies since the 2000s, with focus areas on the top 10 subject categories, especially in Agricultural and Biological Sciences. Additionally, the USA, Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, China, and Austria exhibited high levels of productivity. We revealed that the eight papers have been pivotal in shaping future research in this field, and the main research topics concentrate on microbial respiration, interaction relationships, microbial biomass carbon, methane oxidation, and high-throughput sequencing. We further highlight that the new research hotspots in microbial-mediated grassland carbon cycling are mainly focused on the keywords "carbon use efficiency," "enzyme activity," "microbial community," and "high throughput sequencing." Our bibliometric analysis in the past three decades has provided insights into a multidisciplinary and evolving field of microbial-mediated grassland carbon cycling, not merely summarizing the literature but also critically identifying research hotspots and trends, the intellectual base, and interconnections within the existing body of collective knowledge and signposting the path for future research directions.

Abstract This paper explores the nonlinear characteristics of the self-excited aerodynamic forces of a semi-closed box deck section to perfect the theory of aeroelastic response analysis. A numerical wind tunnel model was established based on the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method. The heaving-pitching coupled motion is realized by loading user-defined function (UDF) and dynamic grid technology. The self-excited aerodynamic forces varying with amplitude are identified and analyzed, and the reliability of the aerodynamic results obtained by numerical simulation is verified in the wind tunnel test. In the heaving-pitching coupled motion, the results show that the nonlinear characteristics of aerodynamic forces, especially the aerodynamic moment, are mainly affected by the pitching motion. The phenomenon of high-order harmonic energy transfer is observed with the increase in pitching amplitude, and the main component of high-order harmonic can be determined by the pitching amplitude. The contribution of heaving motion to aerodynamic forces nonlinear components is small, but its influence on nonlinear characteristics is complex. Small amplitude heaving motion plays a positive damping role in heaving-pitching coupled motion, and its scope and effect of positive damping action are affected by pitching motion. The extreme value heaving amplitude of positive damping action is observed in the aerodynamic lift.

Abstract The world population is ageing, and many countries in the world are confronted by significant challenges in adapting their health and social systems to meet the requirements of this demographic change. It is well-accepted that mobility is often closely linked to a person's independence, wellbeing and quality of life. Interest has increased across the world with regard to how the mobility needs of an ageing society can be addressed, since an ageing population is confronting nations across the globe and poses long-term challenges on a nation's many aspects, including transport. Questions of how future policies can better respond to the mobility needs of an ageing population and how these policies can be delivered have emerged as major concerns for transport planners, operators and decision-makers. This review explores the way in which implemented policies have addressed the mobility needs of an ageing society, focusing on the provision of accessible, safe and affordable transport. More specifically, the paper reviews legislative and institutional approaches of addressing the mobility needs of an ageing population. The paper discusses the outcomes of these approaches and the remaining challenges in this policy area that relate to elderly people's mobility and provides future research directions. Based on the discussion, clear conclusions about the effectiveness of particular policies are difficult to make. Alternative approaches (e.g., technological innovations) need to be considered in addressing older people's mobility needs.

Abstract Background: Overerupted maxillary molars is common in adults, which can lead to insufficient intermaxillary vertical space ,great difficulty in prosthetic reconstruction ,and cause occlusal interference in movements. To reconstruct occlusal function, it is necessary to prepare enough space for prostheses. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of space-adjustment occlusal splint on overerupted maxillary molars by clinical and electromyographic signals analysis.
Methods: Eighteen patients with overerupted maxillary molars were selected to wear space-adjustment occlusal splint suppressing overerupted maxillary molars for three months. Satisfaction was assessed by 5-point Likert; intermaxillary vertical space and the teeth transportation distance were measured in models; clinical periodontal status were evaluated by periodontal probing depth (PPT) and bleeding index (BI); electromyographic recordings of the masseter and anterior temporal muscles were monitored by Cranio-Mandibular K7 Evaluation System.
Results: All the patients were satisfied with the treatment effect (Likert scale ≧ 4). The intermaxillary space in edentulous areas after treatment showed statistically significant increasing when compared with those before treatment. PPT and BI showed no significant difference. No statistically significant differences were found in electromyographic activity of anterior temporal muscles, while a reduction of muscle activity in masseter in the contralateral side were detected in post-treatment evaluations compared with pre-treatment at mandibular rest position.
Conclusions: Space-adjustment occlusal splint is an efficient treatment option on overerupted maxillary molars by intruding the maxillary molar to obtain adequate intermaxillary space for prostheses.
