    Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate targets through which Gualou Xiebai Banxia decoction aids in treating myocardial infarction (MI) using network pharmacology in combination with molecular docking. The principal active ingredients of Gualou Xiebai Banxia decoction were identified from the TCMSP database using the criteria of drug-likeness ≥30% and oral bioavailability ≥0.18. Interactions and pathway enrichment were investigated using protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks and Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis, respectively. Active component structures were docked with those of potential protein targets using AutoDock molecular docking relative softwares. HIF1A was of particular interest as it was identified by the PPI network, GO and KEGG pathway enrichment analyses. In conclusion, the use of network pharmacology prediction and molecular docking assessments provides further information on the active components and mechanisms of action Gualou Xiebai Banxia decoction.

    Abstract Sunflower in coding theory is a class of important subspace codes and can be used to construct linear codes. In this paper, we study the minimality of linear codes over <semantics> F q </semantics> constructed from sunflowers of size s in all cases. For any sunflower, the corresponding linear code is minimal if <semantics> s ≥ q + 1 </semantics> , and not minimal if <semantics> 2 ≤ s ≤ 3 ≤ q </semantics> . In the case where <semantics> 3 < s ≤ q </semantics> , for some sunflowers, the corresponding linear codes are minimal, whereas for some other sunflowers, the corresponding linear codes are not minimal.

    Abstract IntroductionAs China has rapidly evolved into an aging society, the Chinese government has developed a community-oriented primary healthcare system to vigorously expedite the transfer of primary health care (PHC) from higher-level hospitals to community health centers (CHCs). However, current planning standards for CHCs have not considered the heterogeneity of older adults in supply-demand services, such that the areas with severe aging may comprise of underestimated levels of accessibility.MethodsThis study focuses on the gap in PHC access between planning assessment and actual utilization for older adults. We conducted an empirical study in the city area of Dalian based on the check-in and survey data from CHCs during the COVID-19 pandemic. A comparison model was built to calculate matching probability using a modified Gaussian Two-Step Floating Catchment Area (G2SFCA) method.ResultsAs indicated by the results, the communities in the primary healthcare shortage area (PHCSA) increased 6.8% by considering the heterogeneity of older adults; these communities with underserved PHC were ignored by the current planning assessment. Based on the comparison of actual and theoretical accessibility for older adults, we found that the average matching probability was about 76.6%, which means approximately a quarter of older adults have been misestimated the accessibility of PHC.DiscussionFurther analysis for the older adults with mismatched accessibility showed two causes of the gap, one is the lack of connection between the spatial distribution of facilities and the allocation of service supply, and the other is the subjective cross-catchment visit to CHCs for older adults.

    Abstract As an alternative to entanglement entropies, the capacity of entanglement becomes a promising candidate to probe and estimate the degree of entanglement of quantum bipartite systems. In this work, we study the typical behavior of entanglement capacity over major models of random states. In particular, the exact and asymptotic formulas of average capacity have been derived under the Hilbert-Schmidt and Bures-Hall ensembles. The obtained formulas generalize some partial results of average capacity computed recently in the literature. As a key ingredient in deriving the results, we make use of recent advances in random matrix theory pertaining to the underlying orthogonal polynomials and special functions. Numerical study has been performed to illustrate the usefulness of average capacity as an entanglement indicator.

    Abstract This article demonstrates how the development of labour market institutions alongside economic reform has impacted the human resource management (HRM) practices of foreign companies in China. A historical approach is applied to examine the transformation of China from a centrally planned labour administration system to a market-based labour institution. The HRM practices of foreign companies are seen being embedded in China's macro-institutional environment, which constrains and/or enables foreign companies to exercise people management. Drawing on previous research, the study shows that HRM practices in the early reform period were primarily constrained both by formal and by informal institutions. The evidence from Finnish companies operating in China shows that HRM practices in the late reform period are largely enabled by formal institutions; however, foreign companies face the need for adaptation to the demands of informal institutions. Furthermore, the scarcity of human resources and rapid yet heterogeneous socio-economic development pose additional challenges for people management in China today.

    Abstract Purpose: With the rapid development of medical informatization, information overload and asymmetry have become major obstacles that limit patients’ ability to find appropriate telemedicine specialists. Although doctor recommendation methods have been proposed, they fail to address data sparsity and cold-start issues, and electronic medical records (EMRs), patient preferences, potential interest of service providers and the changes over time are largely under-explored. Therefore, this study develops a self-adaptive telemedicine specialist recommendation method that incorporates specialist activity and patient utility feedback from the perspective of privacy protection to fill the research gaps. Methods: First, text vectorization, view similarity and probabilistic topic model are used to construct the patient and specialist feature models based on patients’ EMRs and specialists’ long- and short-term knowledge backgrounds, respectively. Second, the recommended specialist candidate set and recommendation index are obtained based on the similarity between patient features. Then, the specialist long-term knowledge feature model is used to update the newly registered specialist recommendation index and the recommended specialist candidate set to overcome the data sparsity and cold-start issues, and the specialist short-term knowledge feature model is adopted to extend the recommended specialist candidate set at the semantic level. Finally, we introduce the specialists’ activity and patients’ perceived utility feedback mechanism to construct a closed-loop adjusted and optimized specialist recommendation method. Results: An empirical study was conducted integrating EMRs of telemedicine patients from the National Telemedicine Center of China and specialists’ profiles and ratings from an online healthcare platform. The proposed method successfully recommended relevant and active telemedicine specialists to the target patient, and increased the recommended opportunities for newly registered specialists to some extent. ...

    Abstract The Tsallis entropy is a useful one-parameter generalization to the standard von Neumann entropy in quantum information theory. In this work, we study the variance of the Tsallis entropy of bipartite quantum systems in a random pure state. The main result is an exact variance formula of the Tsallis entropy that involves finite sums of some terminating hypergeometric functions. In the special cases of quadratic entropy and small subsystem dimensions, the main result is further simplified to explicit variance expressions. As a byproduct, we find an independent proof of the recently proven variance formula of the von Neumann entropy based on the derived moment relation to the Tsallis entropy.

    Abstract Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) stands as a formidable health challenge, recognized not only for its growing prevalence but also for its association with elevated mortality rates. Emerging evidence suggests that CKD is inherently linked to inflammatory processes, marking it as an inflammatory disorder. In this landscape, the systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) emerges as a novel inflammation marker, yet to be applied for assessing the risk of mortality in CKD patients.
    Objective: This study aims to investigate the prognostic significance of the SIRI in all-cause and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality among patients with CKD.
    Method: This study conducted a retrospective observational study using the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database, encompassing data from 1999 to 2018. This analysis included 9,115 CKD patients, categorized based on SIRI quartiles. Key outcomes were all-cause and CVD mortality, analyzed using Kaplan-Meier survival curves, restricted cube splines (RCS) and cox proportional hazards models.
    Result: In this study of 9,115 CKD patients, the Kaplan-Meier survival analysis revealed a greater incidence of all-cause death among groups with higher SIRI (P-log rank <0.001). In the fully adjusted model (Model 3), each unit increase in SIRI led to a 20% increase in the risk of all-cause mortality. Additionally, higher SIRI quartiles (Q3 and Q4) were associated with increased risk compared to the lowest quartile (Q1) (Q3: HR: 1.16, 95% CI: 1.01-1.34; Q4: HR: 1.63, 95% CI: 1.40-1.90;
    Conclusion: SIRI was positively associated with all-cause and CVD mortality in patients with CKD.
