Abstract Introduction. The health, economic and social crisis caused by the Covid 19 pandemic in Italy has produced a wide range of consequences and reactions. It has favoured the re-emergence of intergenerational conflicts that had long been latent. The present article focuses on this phenomenon in depth and analyses the most salient results of a study conducted in the Emilia Romagna region. In this study, different generational groups were interviewed, from adolescents to adults and the elderly. Methodology. The study was performed in November 2020, in the days immediately after measures to contain the epidemic were introduced via governmental decree. Strict limitations to individual behaviour, school attendance and the possibility of exercising certain professions were announced. The opinions of young people, adults and the elderly were collected regarding: the Italian government’s decisions; the concept of health; social life; and behaviours relating to the respect or not of the restrictions. Based on the gathered data, the present work sought to highlight the generational specificities, commonalities and, above all, the elements of intergenerational conflict. Results. A picture emerged in which, alongside the shared admission that health – understood in its broadest sense of physical and psychological well-being – must be protected and defended, each generational group also considered its own demands as a priority. These demands were linked to the enjoyment of social life, to work needs and to their own specific health requirements. They also presented themselves as victims of rules and behaviours that were not very protective and that favoured, above all, other age groups. An excess of self-referentiality, which cut across all age groups, led to closing in on themselves and implosions, arousing conflicting positions. Discussion and conclusions. The reported opinions testify to the re-emergence of a hitherto underlying intergenerational conflict, stemming from the new generations’ difficulties regarding social ...

Abstract New plant breeding innovations, including CRISPR-mediated genome editing, are enhancing the development of new plant varieties, many of which are on the cusp of entering market places internationally. The lack of clear and consistent regulatory policies globally for genome-edited plants, and their products, may limit the adoption and commercialization of these products; In contrast to the positive trends of regulatory agencies in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, and the United States, which are at the forefront of a wave of countries that are implementing policies facilitating the development of genome-edited plants, the European Union has adopted a more restrictive approach that considers any new mutagenesis technique developed after 2001 as subject to regulation as genetically modified plants.

Abstract This article reports the results of a qualitative survey conducted on a sample of students of the School of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Bologna, analysing the impact of the shift to online lessons during the lockdown imposed by Covid 19 pandemic in Italy in spring 2020. The author of the article thoroughly analyses positive and negative aspects of online-learning, admitting that there are such categories of students, who prefer online-learning because of their individual treats of character and individual, educational needs. The author comes to the conclusion, that in the modern conditions of post-pandemic it is possible to speak about mixed (hybrid) education – combination of online and offline-learning, based on the innovative and traditional forms of pedagogical activity.

Abstract The presence of students of different ethnic backgrounds and with different socio-economic and cultural conditions makes the school an arena in which those conflicts that characterize city life and political debate are manifested on a smaller scale. The presence of cultural mediators and teacher trained in conflict management has very often stemmed critical situations, preventing them from exploding. The spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic, with the consequent closure of schools and the transition to distance learning, has led to the breakdown of already fragile balances and the explosion of conflicts between schools and families, between teachers and school managers, but also within the political emergency management system. With the reopening of schools scheduled for September 2020, many points are still unclear and many questions and possible conflicts are looming.

Abstract Reporting the results of a research, this article analyses the manifestations and evolutions of friendship ties during the lockdown imposed by the Covid 19 pandemic, focusing in particular on the use of technologies and future prospects. The need that emerges is that of placing the bonds of friendship at the center of pedagogical and educational reflection. The author comes to the conclusion that, although digital technologies are aimed to ease students’ lockdown at home, and lower their feeling of loneliness, they can’t compensate fully the whole depth of friendship and reflect the orientation of interpersonal relationships.
