Abstract The paper uses the Shapley method to decompose poverty changes by income source and growth-distribution-cost according to the history of China's poverty elimination policies in the last forty years. The analysis shows that economic growth contributed to most of the reduction in all periods. Increasing inequality has adverse effects on poverty elimination in that it makes people vulnerable to poverty, which bodes ill for future poverty alleviation. Wages explain most of poverty change for both the urban and rural areas in recent years and are the main reason for increasing inequality in rural areas. Agricultural income played a significant role in reducing rural poverty and inequality in early periods when China experienced many agricultural reforms. In the future, pro-poor growth, reducing inequality and building a relatively integrated urban-rural poverty alleviation system will be most important jobs for China's poverty reduction.

Abstract At the beginning of 2020, the global outbreak of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 posed a huge challenge to the governance capabilities of public health in various countries. In this paper, the SEIR model is used to fit the number of confirmed cases in each province in China, and the reduction rate of the basic reproduction number is used to measure the actual score of the control effect of COVID-19. The potential capacity of prevention and control of epidemics, in theory, is constructed, and we use the difference between theoretical ability and actual score to measure the ability of governance of public health. We found that there were significant differences between actual effect and theoretical ability in various regions, and governance capabilities were an important reason leading to this difference, which was not consistent with the level of economic development. The balance of multiple objectives, the guiding ideology of emphasizing medical treatment over prevention, the fragmentation of the public health system, and the insufficiency of prevention and control ability in primary public health systems seriously affected the government’s ability to respond to public health emergencies.

Abstract Nitrite and nitrate have been widely used in the preservation of meat products for the effective antimicrobial action against several pathogenic bacteria such as Clostridium botulinum, Salmonella and mesophilic bacteria. However, they can further react with secondary amines in meat products and produce noxious compounds called nitrosamines during thermal processing. N-nitrosamines are divided into volatile N-nitrosamines and non-volatile N-nitrosamines, among which volatile N-nitrosamines are a group of highly hazardous chemical carcinogens whose carcinogenicity and teratogenicity have led to widespread concern. Owing to their occurrence in daily diet, it is of great significance to suppress their formation and toxicity on human health without causing adverse effects on food flavors. In this paper, the formation mechanism and toxicity of nitrosamines are provided. Potential mitigations can be carried out from the perspectives of precursors in raw materials, processing conditions as well as exogenous additives. Moreover, promoting the degradation of nitrosamines is an effective approach. The potential health risks associated with nitrosamines are described. Different intervention substances, such as polyphenols, vitamins and various plant extracts are summarized, discussing their impact on various toxicity of nitrosamines. The purpose of this review is to provide theoretical guidance on the control of nitrosamines generation and deleterious effects, so as to promote the development of meat processing and practical production.

Abstract Coronary artery ectasia (CAE) in adults is often caused by atherosclerotic plaques. CAE can affect atherosclerotic plaques through hemodynamic changes. However, no study has evaluated the characteristics of CAE with atherosclerotic plaques. Therefore, we aimed to disclose the characteristics of atherosclerotic plaques in patients with CAE using optical coherence tomography (OCT). We evaluated patients with CAE, confirmed by coronary angiography, who underwent pre-intervention OCT between April 2015 and April 2021. Each millimeter of the OCT images was analyzed to assess the characteristics of CAEs, plaque phenotypes, and plaque vulnerability. A total of 286 patients (344 coronary vessels) met our criteria, 82.87% of whom were men. Right coronary artery lesions were the most common, comprising 44.48% (n = 153) of the total. We found 329 CAE vessels with plaques, accounting for 95.64% of the coronary vessels. After grouping CAEs and plaques by their relative positions, we found that the length of plaques within CAE lesions was longer than that of plaques in other sites (P < 0.001). Plaques within CAE lesions had greater maximum lipid angles and lipid indexes (P = 0.007, P = 0.004, respectively) than those on other sites. This study revealed the most common vascular and morphological characteristics of CAE. While the accompanying plaques were not affected by the location or morphology of the CAE vessels, they were affected by their position relative to the CAE lesion.

Abstract Background: Lung cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related death, with lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) representing the most common subtype. Recently, exosome-based biomarkers have provided new diagnostic approaches for malignancies.
Methods: The differential expression profile of plasma exosomal mRNA was established by high-throughput sequencing, and the expression and diagnostic value of plasma exosomal CXCL7 mRNA and protein in LUAD were studied to evaluate their diagnostic value as tumor biomarkers.
Results: The expression of plasma exosomal CXCL7 mRNA in patients with LUAD was significantly increased (p < 0.01), which had no significant correlation with age, gender, and stage. ROC was used to evaluate the diagnostic value of plasma exosomal CXCL7 mRNA in LUAD patients with AUC = 0.7171. Further analysis signified that the CXCL7 protein of plasma exosomes in LUAD patients was overexpressed, and it was positively correlated with TNM stage and age. The diagnostic value of plasma exosomal CXCL7 in LUAD is better than serum CEA, with an AUC of 0.785, which has higher sensitivity and specificity.
Conclusions: This research suggests that plasma exosomal CXCL7 may become an effective biomarker for early diagnosis of LUAD.
