Abstract In this paper, we are interested in predicting the bubbles in the S&P 500 stock market with a two-step machine learning approach that employs a real-time bubble detection test and support vector machine (SVM). SVM as a nonparametric binary classification technique is already a widely used method in financial time series forecasting. In the literature, a bubble is often defined as a situation where the asset price exceeds its fundamental value. As one of the early warning signals, prediction of bubbles is vital for policymakers and regulators who are responsible to take preemptive measures against the future crises. Therefore, many attempts have been made to understand the main factors in bubble formation and to predict them in their earlier phases. Our analysis consists of two steps. The first step is to identify the bubbles in the S&P 500 index using a widely recognized right-tailed unit root test. Then, SVM is employed to predict the bubbles by macroeconomic indicators. Also, we compare SVM with different supervised learning algorithms by using

Abstract Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), which has developed multidrug resistance, leads to many healthcare-associated infections resulting in significant medical and economic losses. Therefore, the development of new efficient strategies to deal with these bacteria has been gaining importance. Lysostaphin is a peptidoglycan hydrolase that has considerable potential as a bacteriocin. However, there have been few reported optimization and scale-up studies of the lysostaphin bioproduction process. Our preliminary results have revealed that the composition of auto-induction media at 30 °C increases the produced lysostaphin around 10-fold in shake flasks. In this study, achieving higher yields for recombinant lysostaphin in E. coli at a laboratory scale has been the aim, through the use of auto-induction media. Optimized medium composition and fermentation parameters were transferred to a laboratory-scale bioreactor. The tested conditions improved protein yields up to 184 mg/L in a 3 L stirred bioreactor and the productivity was improved 2-fold in comparison to previously published reports. Furthermore, this study also showed that lysostaphin is an effective bacteriocin on both commercially available and isolated S. aureus strains. These results will contribute to future larger-scale production of lysostaphin via the proposed fermentation conditions.

Abstract Aim:Childhood obesity is associated with psychosocial and medical comorbidities. Children affected by obesity have significantly lower self-esteem than children with normal weight, and families have an important role in the development of body image and body dissatisfaction. We aimed to examine the relationship between the body esteem of obese children and their parents’ body esteem and weight status.Materials and Methods:This study was carried out in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey, and was rolled out to 9 to 11-year-old children and their parents in 46 schools (2,066 parent-child dyads). The data were collected via parent and child questionnaires. Anthropometric measurements were conducted by the project team. Four different logistic regression models were performed separately; body esteem and Body Mass Index (BMI) for fathers and sons, fathers and daughters, mothers and sons, and mothers and daughters. Results:Mothers obesity was associated with their daughters’ and their sons’ obesity status. Fathers’ obesity status appears to be positively associated with their sons’ status only but not their daughters’. The body esteem of the obese boys was adversely affected only by their own BMI in the models with their fathers and mothers. Compared to boys, girls were affected adversely by their own BMI, their body esteem, and their mothers’ and fathers’ body esteem. Conclusion:A strong association between both the mothers’ and fathers’ role in the body esteem of daughters was found. Further research should be conducted to better understand the socio-cultural dynamics that may be unique to the development of childhood obesity.

Abstract This research is a quantitative survey to determine the value of the perceptions of “the cause of the chaos in the Middle East is the fact that the western people have broken up the Ottoman State” and “we Turks can provide peace, security in the region” in the Middle East and the viewpoint of the Middle East towards our country. In this context, in order to collect data, while conducting a survey for university students from Middle East countries who come to Turkey to study on undergraduate and graduate degrees, also a literature scanning for ever-changing Turkish foreign policy in the 21st century and regional moves have been made. According to the findings, Middle Eastern students are regarding Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia in the forefront as a regional leader. It has been observed that most of the students who have seen Iran and Saudi Arabia as leaders, have argued that the regional leader should be Turkey.

Abstract We reported on 65 years old patient who has colon cancer and referred to our palliative care center with pain due to enlarging metastatic mass on the dorsal of the right hand. She had swelling and numbness on her jaw. Computed tomography (CT) scan was performed for mandible imaging and two pathologic fractures were detected on the right corpus and right condyle of the mandible. Clinicians should consider possible metastases for terminal stage cancer patients.

Abstract We have carefully read the article titled 'Prognostic Nutritional Index as a Predictor of No-Reflow Occurrence in Patients With ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Who Underwent Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention' and find it to be of significant interest. The no-reflow phenomenon (NRP) stands as a formidable complication of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), carrying a high mortality risk. Managing NRP entails pharmacological and mechanical interventions, making its prediction a crucial aspect in the management of STEMI cases. We extend our gratitude to you and the authors for conducting this valuable and thought-provoking study. We anticipate that our insights will serve as a guide for future comprehensive studies in this dynamic area.
