Abstract Organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) were largely sprayed on the floodplain soils before the project of Returning Farmland to Lake in China, which caused contamination of sediment in Dong-ting Lake with dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) and hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) and posed threats to human health and other organisms. In this study, single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) at different concentrations of 0.058, 0.145 and 0.29wt% were used to manage residual DDTs and HCHs in Dong-ting Lake sediment. The efficacy was assessed by DDTs and HCHs deriving from the aqueous equilibrium experiment and uptake in semipermeable membrane devices (SPMDs). Desorption experiment and the quiescent flux experiment were conducted as well. The results showed that DDTs and HCHs were released from sediment. The p, p'-DDT was desorbed less readily than its metabolites and similarly α-HCH was desorbed less easily than other HCH isomers from sediment. Carbon nanotubes had great effects on treating DDTs and HCHs. The effectiveness of carbon nanotube amendment was dependent on type, dose and sediment-sorbent contact time In addition, carbon nanotubes being sprinkled on the surface of sediment as a cap and being injected into sediment as a mixture were considered as two effective ways to prevent DDTs and HCHs being released from sediment. Carbon nanotubes can be potentially useful as sorbents in in-situ remediation.

Abstract A pair of ting chromosomes (ti) added to 72180 4D nullisomic was subcentral centromere chromosome and was about 1/3-1/4 the size of a chromosome on the average length. It's chromosome configuration was 19.59" (18-20) + 0.46' (0-4) + 0.99" (0-1) + 0.96ti" (0-1) + 0.08ti' (0-2) at PMC MI. The cells with ring ti" account for 96.19%, of which 82.38% were free on each side of the equatorial plane. ti chromosome paired in advance, defered segregation and had no synapsis with a chromosome. When the cross progenies from 72180 4D nullisomic with octoploid Trilileymus were backcrossed to the 4D nullisomic used as the male, the transmitting rate of 2ti chromosome was six times higher than that where the nullisomic was used as the female. The transmitting and loss rates of ti chromosome were 50.38% and 18.34% respectively, and averagely each plant has 0.72 ti chromosome in the cross generations. The appearing rate of ti chromosome was 43.18% in root tip cell and 8.16% in PMC MI of the plants without ti chromosome. When the number of a chromosome was less than 42, the genetic effect of ti chromosome on the quantitative character was significant, while the number of a chromosome was 42, the genetic effect was not apparent.

Abstract Neural networks are frequently employed to model species distribution through backpropagation methods, known as backpropagation neural networks (BPNN). However, the complex structure of BPNN introduces parameter settings challenges, such as the determination of connection weights, which can affect the accuracy of model simulation. In this paper, we integrated the Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) algorithm, renowned for its excellent global search capacity and rapid convergence, to enhance the performance of BPNN. Then we obtained a novel hybrid algorithm, the Grey Wolf Optimizer algorithm optimized backpropagation neural networks algorithm (GNNA), designed for predicting species' potential distribution. We also compared the GNNA with four prevalent species distribution models (SDMs), namely the generalized boosting model (GBM), generalized linear model (GLM), maximum entropy (MaxEnt), and random forest (RF). These models were evaluated using three evaluation metrics: the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, Cohen's kappa, and the true skill statistic, across 23 varied species. Additionally, we examined the predictive accuracy concerning spatial distribution. The results showed that the predictive performance of GNNA was significantly improved compared to BPNN, was significantly better than that of GLM and GBM, and was even comparable to that of MaxEnt and RF in predicting species distributions with small sample sizes. Furthermore, the GNNA demonstrates exceptional powers in forecasting the potential non-native distribution of invasive plant species.
