    Abstract Clustering is a fundamental topic in machine learning and various methods are proposed, in which K-Means (KM) and min cut clustering are typical ones. However, they may produce empty or skewed clustering results, which are not as expected. In KM, the constrained clustering methods have been fully studied while in min cut clustering, it still needs to be developed. In this paper, we propose a parameter-insensitive min cut clustering with flexible size constraints. Specifically, we add lower limitations on the number of samples for each cluster, which can perfectly avoid the trivial solution in min cut clustering. As far as we are concerned, this is the first attempt of directly incorporating size constraints into min cut. However, it is a NP-hard problem and difficult to solve. Thus, the upper limits is also added in but it is still difficult to solve. Therefore, an additional variable that is equivalent to label matrix is introduced in and the augmented Lagrangian multiplier (ALM) is used to decouple the constraints. In the experiments, we find that the our algorithm is less sensitive to lower bound and is practical in image segmentation. A large number of experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm.

    Abstract In this paper, we address power aware online scheduling of jobs with resource contention. We propose an optimization model and present new approach to resource allocation with job concentration taking into account types of applications. Heterogeneous workloads include CPU intensive, disk I/O intensive, memory intensive, network I/O intensive and other applications. When jobs of one type are allocated to the same resource, they may create a bottleneck and resource contention either in CPU, memory, disk or network. It may result in degradation of the system performance and increasing energy consumption. We focus on energy characteristics of applications, and show that an intelligent allocation strategy can further improve energy consumption compared with traditional approaches. We propose heterogeneous job consolidation algorithms and validate them by conducting a performance evaluation study using the CloudSim toolkit under different scenarios and real data. We analyze several scheduling algorithms depending on the type and amount of information they require.

    Abstract Introduction: This study investigated the effects of storage japonica brown rice (SJBR) and bile acids (BA) on the growth performance, meat quality, and intestinal microbiota of growing-finishing Min pigs.
    Methods: A total of 24 healthy Min pigs with a similar body weight of 42.25 ± 2.13 kg were randomly divided into three groups with eight replicates of one pig each. The groups were as follows: CON (50% corn), SJBR (25% corn +25% SJBR), and SJBR + BA (25% corn +25% SJBR +0.025% hyodeoxycholic acid). The experimental period lasted from day 90 (the end of the nursery phase) to day 210 (the end of the finishing phase).
    Results: The results showed the following: (1) Compared with the CON group, there was no significant difference in the average daily gain (ADG) and average daily feed intake (ADFI) of the SJBR and SJBR + BA groups, and the feed conversion ratio (FCR) was significantly decreased (
    Conclusion: In conclusion, 25% SJBR can improve the growth performance and increase the abundance of intestinal beneficial bacteria, and based on this, adding bile acids can reduce the back fat thickness of growing-finishing Min pigs.

    Abstract Objective: Suffering is a common experience in palliative care. In our study, we aimed to determine the effect of 5-min mindfulness of love on suffering and the spiritual quality of life of palliative care patients.
    Methods: We conducted a parallel-group, blinded, randomized controlled study at the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), Malaysia from February 2019 to April 2019. Sixty adult palliative care patients with an overall suffering score of 4/10 or above based on the Suffering Pictogram were recruited and randomly assigned to either the 5-min mindfulness of love group (N = 30) or the 5-min supportive listening group (N = 30).
    Results: There were statistically significant improvements in the overall suffering score (mean difference = -2.9, CI = -3.7 to -2.1, t = -7.268, p = 0.000) and the total FACIT-Sp-12 score (mean difference = 2.9, CI = 1.5 to 4.3, t = 4.124, p = 0.000) in the intervention group compared to the control group.
    Conclusion: The results provided evidence that 5-min mindfulness of love could affect the actual state of suffering and the spiritual quality of life of palliative care patients.

    Abstract Heterogeneous distribution of components in the biological membrane is critical in the process of cell polarization. However, little is known about the mechanisms that can generate and maintain the heterogeneous distribution of the membrane components. Here, we report that the propagating wave patterns of the bacterial Min proteins can impose steric pressure on the membrane, resulting in transport and directional accumulation of the component in the membrane. Therefore, the membrane component waves represent transport of the component in the membrane that is caused by the steric pressure gradient induced by the differential levels of binding and dissociation of the Min proteins in the propagating waves on the membrane surface. The diffusivity, majorly influenced by the membrane anchor of the component, and the repulsed ability, majorly influenced by the steric property of the membrane component, determine the differential spatial distribution of the membrane component. Thus, transportation of the membrane component by the Min proteins follows a simple physical principle, which resembles a linear peristaltic pumping process, to selectively segregate and maintain heterogeneous distribution of materials in the membrane.     Abstract In this work, we propose a new Dual Min-Max Games (DMMG) based self-supervised skeleton action recognition method by augmenting unlabeled data in a contrastive learning framework. Our DMMG consists of a viewpoint variation min-max game and an edge perturbation min-max game. These two min-max games adopt an adversarial paradigm to perform data augmentation on the skeleton sequences and graph-structured body joints, respectively. Our viewpoint variation min-max game focuses on constructing various hard contrastive pairs by generating skeleton sequences from various viewpoints. These hard contrastive pairs help our model learn representative action features, thus facilitating model transfer to downstream tasks. Moreover, our edge perturbation min-max game specializes in building diverse hard contrastive samples through perturbing connectivity strength among graph-based body joints. The connectivity-strength varying contrastive pairs enable the model to capture minimal sufficient information of different actions, such as representative gestures for an action while preventing the model from overfitting. By fully exploiting the proposed DMMG, we can generate sufficient challenging contrastive pairs and thus achieve discriminative action feature representations from unlabeled skeleton data in a self-supervised manner. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves superior results under various evaluation protocols on widely-used NTU-RGB+D, NTU120-RGB+D and PKU-MMD datasets.

    Abstract Aim: This study innovatively proposed the 1-min sit-to-stand test (1-min STST) as an assessment tool for functional capacity in acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF), in which its feasibility and safety were investigated.
    Methods: This was a prospective, single-center cohort study. The 1-min STST was performed after the first 48 h of admission when vital signs and Borg score were collected. Lung ultrasound was used to measure pulmonary edema by B-lines before and after the test.
    Results: Seventy-five patients were enrolled in the study, of whom 40% were in functional class IV on admission. The mean age was 58.3 ± 15.7 years and 40% of the patients were male. 95% patients accomplished the test and the average number of repetitions was 18 ± 7. No adverse event was recorded during or after the 1-min STST. Blood pressure, heart rate, and degree of dyspnea were increased after the test (all
    Conclusion: The application of the 1-min STST in early stage of ADHF appeared to be safe and feasible, which induce neither adverse event nor pulmonary edema. It may serve as a new tool of functional capacity assessment, as well as a reference of exercise rehabilitation.
