    Abstract Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) causes clinical syndromes typified as reproductive disorders in sows and respiratory diseases in piglets. PRRSV remains one of the most prevalent pathogens affecting the pig industry, because of its complex infection profile and highly heterogeneous genetic and recombination characteristics. Therefore, a rapid and effective PRRSV detection method is important for the prevention and control of PRRS. With extensive in-depth research on PRRSV detection methods, many detection methods have been improved and promoted. Laboratory methods include techniques based on virus isolation (VI), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA), indirect immunofluorescence assays (IFA), immunoperoxidase monolayer assays (IPMA), polymerase chain reaction (PCR), quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR), digital PCR (dPCR), loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP), recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA), clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR), metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS), and other methods. This study reviews the latest research on improving the main PRRSV detection methods and discusses their advantages and disadvantages.

    Abstract Diabetic wounds cannot undergo normal wound healing due to changes in the concentration of hyperglycemia in the body and soon evolve into chronic wounds causing amputation or even death of patients. Diabetic wounds directly affect the quality of patients and social medical management; thus researchers started to focus on skin transplantation technology. The acellular fish skin grafts (AFSGs) are derived from wild fish, which avoids the influence of human immune function and the spread of the virus through low-cost decellularization. AFSGs contain a large amount of collagen and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and they have an amazing effect on wound regeneration. However, after our search in major databases, we found that there were few research trials in this field, and only one was clinically approved. Therefore, we summarized the advantages of AFSGs and listed the problems faced in clinical use. The purpose of this paper is to enable researchers to better carry out original experiments at various stages.

    Abstract Different types of functional oligosaccharides exhibit varying degrees of immune-enhancing effects, which might be attributable to differences in their glycosyl structures. The differences in the immunomodulatory action of three functional oligosaccharides with distinct glycosyl compositions: cello-oligosaccharides (COS), manno-oligosaccharides (MOS), and xylo-oligosaccharides (XOS), were investigated in mouse-derived macrophage RAW264.7. Moreover, the immune enhancement mechanism of oligosaccharides with diverse glycosyl compositions was investigated from a molecular interaction perspective. The TLR4-dependent immunoregulatory effect of functional oligosaccharides was shown by measuring the levels of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and interleukin (IL)-6 in RAW264.7 cells treated with different functional oligosaccharides, both with and without Resatorvid [TAK-242] (a Toll-like receptor 4 [TLR4] inhibitor). Western blot analysis showed that binding of the three oligosaccharides to TLR4 activated the downstream signaling pathway and consequently enhanced the immune response. The fluorescence spectra and molecular docking results revealed that the main mechanisms by which these oligosaccharides attach to the TLR4 active pocket are hydrogen bonds and van der Waals forces. Functional oligosaccharides were ranked according to their affinity for TLR4, as follows: MOS > COS > XOS, indicating that oligosaccharides or polysaccharides containing mannose units may confer significant advantages for immune enhancement.

    Abstract Purpose: With the prolonged survival time of patients with permanent colostomy for colorectal cancer, they and their spouses face tremendous pressure and development dilemmas that can easily lead to family adaptation crises. This qualitative study amid to explore the dyadic experiences of family resilience among Chinese patients with permanent colostomy and their spouses.
    Methods: A phenomenological research method was adopted. Semi-structured, in-depth, face-to-face interviews with 10 dyads of patients with permanent colostomy and their spouses were recruited through purposive sampling from a public tertiary hospital in China from March 2023 to July 2023.The Dyadic interview analysis and Colaizzi methods were used to analyze the interview data.
    Results: Three themes and nine subthemes were developed. (1) family crisis and dichotomous coping with stress-family crisis and coping pressure caused by enterostomy; (2) Adjustment and adaptation within the family-Joint adjustment and adaptation within the couple's family; and (3) integration and utilization of multi-dimensional social external resources (micro-level, meso-level, and macro-level).
    Conclusions: Couples living with permanent colostomy often undergo a complex emotional journey, experiencing varied levels of individual stress as they navigate social interactions and daily activities, which can contribute to a decline in family adaptation. With the help of the perspective of family advantage, health practitioners should pay attention to the evaluation of individual factors and family environmental resources, to fully mobilize advantage resources and give effective interventions to improve the family and social adaptation level of patients and their spouses.

    Abstract This report presents a contactless and robust dielectric microspheres (DMs)-assisted surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) enhancement method to improve SERS detection sensitivity detection sensitivity. DMs that could focus and collect light were embedded within the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) film to avoid direct contact with the analytical solution and improve detection reliability. The as prepared DMs embedded PDMS (DMs-PDMS) film was integrated with a microfluidic technique to enhance the SERS signal of a liquid substrate. Detection in microfluidic systems can reduce reagent consumption, shorten assay time, and avoid evaporation of the colloid substrate solution. The robustness and potential influencing factors of DMs-PDMS film assisted SERS enhancement (DERS) were evaluated using 4-aminothiophenol (4-ATP) as the Raman probe. The sensing performance of the proposed method toward dipicolinic acid (DPA) was evaluated, and an evident signal intensification was obtained. Remarkably, the DMs-PDMS film can also be implemented on solid substrates. A proof-of-concept experiment was performed by covering the DMs-PDMS film directly over an AgNPs@Si solid substrate wherein a 5.7-fold sensitivity improvement was achieved.
