Abstract To overcome the limitations of large-scale applications for MOFs in the powder form, herein, we proposed a strategy of in-situ growth ZIF-8 onto polyaniline (PANI) modified coconut hydrogel (CCH). Firstly, PANI played the role of metal chelated layers, which were coated on CCH by in-situ polymerization. Then, ZIF-8 nanocrystals were in-situ growth on the surface of the PANI coated CCH to synthesise the composite adsorbent ZIF-8/PANI/CCH. Finally, after vacuum freeze-dried, a white and well structured ZIF-8/PANI/CCA(ZIF-8/polyaniline/coconut aerogel) was obtained. The loading mass ratios of ZIF-8 on CCA and PANI/CCA were 11.3% and 37.5%, respectively, which indicates that PANI as interface layers can effectively promote the in-situ growth of ZIF-8. The obtained composite adsorbent (ZIF-8/PANI/CCA) was applied for the adsorption of tetracycline (TC),and the removal efficiency reaches over 91.6%. This strategy may provide an effective and versatile pathway to increase MOF loading mass on natural polysaccharide aerogel and sequentially branch out their applications in pollutant treatment fields.

Abstract Using a novel homologation-heterocyclization cascade, the on-DNA synthesis of benzofurans from aldehydes has been developed. The methodology, based on an innovative use of the Seyferth-Gilbert homologation, followed by a high yielding Sonogashira coupling in situ intramolecular cyclization one-pot, two-step reaction, provides a powerful and unique pathway for DNA-encoded library (DEL) synthesis of a wide array of pharmaceutically relevant benzofuran-based scaffolds.

Abstract DNA-encoded library (DEL) technologies enable the fast exploration of gigantic chemical space to identify ligands for the target protein of interest and have become a powerful hit finding tool for drug discovery projects. However, amenable DEL chemistry is restricted to a handful of reactions, limiting the creativity of drug hunters. Here, we describe a new on-DNA synthetic pathway to access sulfides and sulfoximines. These moieties, usually contemplated as challenging to achieve through alkylation and oxidation, can now be leveraged in routine DEL selection campaigns.

Abstract MIL-101(Cr)/polyacrylamide/chitosan (named as MIL-101(Cr)/PAM/CSA) composite aerogel with large surface area is synthesized by incorporating MIL-101(Cr) into polyacrylamide/chitosan composite aerogel and used for efficient 2, 4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid adsorption. MIL-101(Cr)/PAM/CSA and polyacrylamide/chitosan composite aerogels exhibit good underwater superelastic properties with multi-level network synergistic cross-linking. After introducing MIL-101(Cr) with the mass loading of 30%, the specific surface area of the composite aerogels enlarge from 58.15 m² g⁻¹ to 310.94 m² g⁻¹. MIL-101(Cr)/PAM/CSA exhibits high adsorption capacity of 302.45 mg g⁻¹ for 2, 4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2, 4-D) and stable recycling capability. This work provides a general and effective method to synthesize composite aerogel with underwater superelastic properties, hierarchical pores and large surface area, promising to realize regeneration after compression with reduced solvent usage and costs.

Abstract In order to evaluate the flow field characteristics of a marine diesel engine cooling water jacket, and provide a theoretical basis for further optimizing the water jacket structure. A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method was used to calculate the three-dimensional flow field of the water jacket. Based on the CFD simulation model of the engine water jacket, the analysis of pressure field, velocity field, streamline distribution and flow uniformity of water jacket of diesel engine under rated condition were carried out. The results show that: the total pressure loss of water jacket is 30.3 kPa, in which the pressure loss of cylinder block is 8.4 kPa, and the one of cylinder head and outlet manifold is 21.9 kPa, which indicates that the flow resistance design of the cylinder block and head is reasonable; the flow rate of coolant in the nose zone of cylinder head is above 1.5 m/s, which meets the cooling demand of cylinder head; the cooling water flows circumferentially in the engine block water jacket, and the flow dead zones are easily formed by the mutual extrusion and collision of the water flows; the outlet of the cylinder head water jacket is connected with the outlet manifold at right angle, which leads to large energy loss of the flow field; the maximum non-uniformity of flow rate of water jacket of each cylinder is 5.85%, which can be further optimized by adjusting the position of water jacket inlet.

Abstract Designing carbon-based non-precious metal hybrid materials to replace precious metal catalysts to solve environmental pollution problems is a hot topic of research at this stage. In this work, a dual ligand Cu-MOF was synthesized by the solvothermal method and using Cu-MOF as a sacrificial template further vulcanized to obtain Cu1.96S/NSC hybrid material. The morphology and composition of Cu1.96S/NSC hybrid material were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen adsorption-desorption, and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) in detail. Cu1.96S/NSC has excellent catalytic activity in the catalytic reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) to 4-aminophenol (4-AP) showing the reaction rate constant k=0.0242 s-1, which can reach nearly 100% conversion rate in 3 min. Finally, the mechanism of Cu1.96S/NSC hybrid material’s efficient catalytic reduction of 4-NP was deeply explored.

Abstract Organophosphonic compounds are distinctive among natural products in terms of stability and mimicry. Numerous synthetic organophosphonic compounds, including pamidronic acid, fosmidromycin, and zoledronic acid, are approved drugs. DNA encoded library technology (DELT) is a well-established platform for identifying small molecule recognition to target protein of interest (POI). Therefore, it is imperative to create an efficient procedure for the on-DNA synthesis of α-hydroxy phosphonates for DEL builds.

Abstract Thiophene and its substituted derivatives are a highly important class of heterocyclic compounds, with noteworthy applications in pharmaceutical ingredients. In this study, we leverage the unique reactivity of alkynes to generate thiophenes on-DNA, using a cascade iodination, Cadiot-Chodkiewicz coupling and heterocyclization. This approach, tackling on-DNA thiophene synthesis for the first time, generates diverse, and unprecedented structural and chemical features, which could be significant motifs in DEL screening as molecular recognition agents for drug discovery.
